Venue accent colors

Evelynn, on March 13, 2021 at 6:17 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7
So originally I wanted to do gold accent colors at the reception such as, charger plates, votive candle holders, table number signs. But the venue we reserved is all white walls, curtains and silver chandeliers. I haven’t purchased much in gold and I really don’t want to blend the two as far as the decor goes. Should I disregard these things and stick to gold or just go with silver accent colors for more of a matchy theme? If I know me, I’d want it to match. But would most of you match your accent colors to statement pieces like the venues chandeliers? The fire place there is also silver.

Never heard of anyone matching their colors to the venue. That is super nitpicky. Just pick colors you love. Your guests will not notice or care if the linens or votive cups don't match the ceiling.

I’d disregard it and go with what colors you want

It's not a big deal at all for it not to match, but I'm like you and prefer for everything to match. If everything is gold except the fireplace and chandelier, I think it's fine. We originally wanted silver as our accent color, but our chairs are gold so we switched gold because not matching really bothered me haha

You need not match your tablescape to things on the walls, ceiling. And you do not dress to exact match your furnishings or napery. They are 3 separate color schemes.
Gold items surrounded by table cloths, colors of flowers, and all that surrounded by people's clothing, means even the boldest use of silver in the room, on sconces, metallic paint borders etc, would never be seen in close company to gold on the tables, not to the naked eye, and not to a camera. If gold is better with your tablecloths, china, and flowers or their vases, use the gold.

A few ideas to consider is 1. Silver votives and minimal silver to tie in, but not overpower your gold, 2. If you are having an evening reception, the lights may be dark enough so the silver isn’t nearly as bold, 3. up lighting really changes the interior of a ballroom and could wash out the silver entirely, or 4. your florist maybe able to create florals/greenery into the chandeliers and minimize the silver mantle.

The florists and up lighting professionals for our wedding were amazing!! They know how to draw the eye to certain places. We literally had cement blocks about 3x3 ft. holding down our tent with industrial ropes that were bright construction like material. I didn’t know if I should cry or vomit!!! My florist, DJ (up lighting included), and a professional event lighting manager made it right. They were so hidden and the eyes were drawn elsewhere. Couldn’t believe my eyes ❤️ Hope this helps!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Our colors are gold as well and our venue has gold chandeliers. We asked a florist to do some chandelier florals so now I doubt the silver will be seen at all lol
