Venue covid19 advice/thoughts

Bethany, on July 20, 2020 at 6:51 PM Posted in Massachusetts Planning 0 5

Hello! My fiance and I have started planning our wedding for 5-26-2021 in Assonet Massachusetts. I've been staying positive but thought it was time to ask my venue at least half of the questions I had to have more of an idea of where I stand.

However, I was told they won't be able to answer any questions till they hear back from the governor hopefully in a few weeks.

Now, I'm not sure if I should postpone the wedding depending on what information the venue can give me. I've slowed things down in hopes everything will be more normal.

Sooo, I have not done save the dates, invitations and dress appointments.......

I have an appointment at Davids Bridal next week, however they are only allowing two guests per bride.....I have a mom step mom mother in law 3 sisters and maid of honor I want to come/try bridesmaids dresses....should I postpone this??

Am I waiting too long??

Please and thank you for any advice/ comments!

It’s ok to be worried! We postponed to May 2021, and I am not stressing out until January! For my own mental health lol I think it’s still a ways away so I would wait it out a bit longer. Things can, and probably will, drastically change over the next few months. As for dress shopping I can understand how much it would suck to only be allowed 2 guests, but dresses are taking time to come in right now so it may take 6-9 Months for your dress to arrive. Try and have fun dress shopping and stay positive!

You might actual enjoy shopping with only two others. I originally hoped to bring my mom, mother-in-law, stepmother-in-law, MOH, and two sisters-in-law, but I decided to go dress shopping for the first time with just my mom to make it special for her. I found my dress that day! I think my MOH was disappointed she didn’t get to go, but I didn’t want to have too many different opinions and it end up being a huge production. I plan on taking her to see my dress once it comes in.

It appears your wedding is in 2021 - looks like May. Here's what I can tell you from personal opinion and certainty - I do not foresee states / governments / world shut downs due to Covid again. We've already seen what an economic disaster it was. If a particular venue shuts down, well it's of their own decision or bankruptcy. If you're watching the news, listening to what's really happening, things are NOT going backwards - if anything they are taking longer to reopen to full phase 3 or whatever a particular state calls it.

My FH and I are travelers - we've been grounded for the most part since March but I watch the following states regularly - WA, CO, FL, IN, NC, SC, NY, CA, AZ as these are the states we frequent often - note that most of them are operating many with restrictions but none of them (exception CA) have reverted back to March's phase 1.

As we learn more about Covid, we'll see more eases in restrictions. Our wedding is in October of this year in FL (where the counts are climbing by the day) yet, groups of 50 are still permitted and as long as that hold true - I'm confident our wedding will happen as originally planned.

I went dress shopping with a bunch of people and really the only people I needed were my mom and my grandmother. My bridesmaids were sweet, but honestly too many opinions made me question things when my mom and grandma knew all along what my style was

I'm being told I can only bring 1-2 people, too, and I think it's worth it. Dresses are really behind right now for some people so putting it off is riskier. You can always FaceTime them in.

As far as the venue goes, I wouldn't postpone yet. I know it's so hard, but try to be patient until they can answer your questions. Hopefully by then we're all back to some degree of normal!
