Venue curfews

Lauren, on January 20, 2016 at 10:09 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hey there! Quick question on venue curfews... I've found myself not wanting to consider venues with a 10 or 11p curfew because, well, I want to have a great party with all these folks I don't get to see very often!

Do you think I'm being unreasonable? Will folks be ready to call it a night or head to the after party by then? FWIW, this will likely be in rural-ish Virginia, so I'm not sure how much after party-ing there will be to be had.

Let me know what you think or your experiences with a venue curfew... thank you!

Mine doesn't have a curfew but we are setting it up the reception ends at 11. Then everyone that's staying at the hotel will be joining us at the bar for the after party.

Our venue (a hotel) has a midnight curfew - we are thinking that the reception will end around 11, however there are several bars that will be open so most likely we will just move the party. The majority of our guests will most likely be staying at the hotel where the ceremony/reception will be so this will work out well for us.

Mine will end at 10. I figure people can party after if they want, but I'll be so exhausted by that point that I'll just want to sleep

It depends on the start time of your ceremony and reception. The later they are, the less time you will have for the party. If you find a venue that you love with a 11 pm curfew, then I'd start looking into places for an afterparty. 11 pm doesn't seem unreasonable to me, especially if the reception starts by 6 pm.

Fair enough. And I mean... now that I've hit the big 3-1 it's not like I'm out partying that much anyway. I just really want to maximize the time with all the fabulous people, since many of our family and friends will be coming to VA from AZ, OH, and TX! This is all helpful, thank you.
