Venue decision

I am torn even after I paid a deposit. I’m looking to having a small wedding with not a lot of interruptions. Venue #1 is local in Atlanta , allows more flexibility to have more people but we are not going over 50. Provides beautiful intimate setting that we can have within budget on a Fri. Venue#2 is 2 hours away in the Highlands which is not as flexible for out of town guests, we would have it on a Thursday given the costs. Very scenic and would be a wedding weekend of no more than 30 people. It would cost the same as #1 with fewer guests but would have to consider overnight accommodations along with our closest family would have to drive another hour and a half to get there after flight. Highlands is our favorite relaxing area but torn to see whether it should be or is necessary for wedding, typically we could never afford it if it wasn’t for the vast discounts of having it during the week. Should local be worth it more,

Is there a venue you prefer, personally I do go with venue 1 because we'd have to cut out immediate family members and invite no friends to have a 30 person guest list plus I d prefer a Friday wedding over a Thursday wedding Choose the venue you & your partner love, that best fits your needs. Good luck

Since you have already paid a deposit, which is likely a hefty sum of money, how much will you be losing by going elsewhere? The deposit is often non refundable if you cancel.

Guests are responsible for their own lodging so that is not your concern.
It comes down to, in addition to the deposit potentially lost, do you prefer flexibility with the venue or a specific guest count? Since those are the two differences based on your description. The guest count needs to be set in stone before you decide on a venue and once you put down a deposit, stop looking. As for the guest count itself, decide who you can’t imagine the day without and only invite those people along with their significant others. Don’t invite anyone out of obligation to please others if you don’t want them there.

I would stick to number one, for the reasons you stated.
