Venue no longer offering food tasting.

Victoria, on July 15, 2022 at 1:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hi everyone. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. We when we booked our venue we were told we would have a good tasting prior to our wedding. I followed up with the venue at the beginning of the year and they said they no longer offer food tasting as a way to keep food costs down. Has anyone else heard the same thing from their venue for their 2022 wedding? Considering asking for a private tasting but not sure how much it will cost or if they even offer it.

We had a group food tasting that didn’t go well. We were not allowed to try the food we planned to have at the wedding. We ended up doing a private tasting in which we had to pay $50 for. It was worth it because it was intimate and the food we tried was really good.

I would look into private tasting options and pricing. I think it would be money well-spent! I think not knowing what the food tastes like before the wedding would cause a lot of unnecessary anxiety!

Ask what their tasting options are and let them know that you will be taking your business elsewhere if they do not let know when you will be having one. Ideally, you would get a tasting before you book the caterer which locks you in with them. Not having a tasting means you trust them 100% blindly to provide what meets your needs and expectations.

This is an all inclusive venue so I did not have a chance to choose a different caterer. They also have a local restaurant that we have never had a bad meal at but the catering menu and restaurant menu are don’t overlap much.

Hi Victoria! We got married during Covid and our tasting was cancelled due to protocols at the time. Although disappointed, we marched forward. Our wedding food was great and served options were as expected. We too had an all inclusive venue (no separate caterer) and all went well! Hope this helps! ❤️

    Hi Victoria,

We had the same experience at our venue. They don’t do tastings anymore cause of Covid which I thought was odd… they have a local restaurant we can have dinner there to see the quality. Our venue was doing take out options so you could ask if your venue is doing that. For us we knew people who had their wedding there and people who attended weddings there and they said the food is really good so we aren’t too concerned. Definitely ask them if they have any other options for tastings.

Was the food tasting included in the contract? If it was included in the contract, they should still be giving you the tasting.
