Venue picking

Kristin, on September 29, 2019 at 8:16 AM Posted in Michigan Planning 0 6
Hi all! FH and I made the trip to Michigan so we can look at venues. During our time we for sure decided we want a Saturday wedding and we’re going to keep the guest count around 250. That being said those 2 things have been limiting. Our vision for the wedding has always been ‘midwest fall’ with a water view and fall colored trees. We are between a few venues where it has either the trees or the water but not really both. The venue that does have both... the drive into the place is a little rough with it being behind a hospital and these old factories by it that look more like eye sores rather than historic. Not sure if I should keep looking?? 8 venues in 3 days and I haven’t felt the ‘this is it’ yet. I do know I want trees and water.. definitely got that feeling. Thanks!

I would say not to settle if you haven’t found one that you love But with only a year left you need to get something locked down soon. Good luck.

What area of Michigan are you looking in? If it's on the southwestern side there are tons of little lakes that might have a venue nearby. County parks are a good place to get both water and trees.
Touristy towns like New Buffalo or St Joseph are also beautiful on Lake Michigan and I'm sure you could find trees closeby.

    Where in MI?

I'm getting married at a park that has a pond in 13 days in Northern MI. I'm paying $25 to reserve the park and then we have a reception site for dinner and dancing.

Hi! We’re planning on getting married in the Metro Detroit Area; trying to stay somewhat close to Detroit itself ( my family lives in Troy, Warren, Lake Orion) so I’m trying to do something in between as some family members have issues with traveling. I’ve contacted parks in St. Clair Shores, Stony Creek and a few others and either they didn’t have a Saturday or couldn’t fit our 250 guest list. Those other 2 you mentioned I’ll look into!

Yes exactly and out of 9 venues I saw these last 4 days, only 2 have Saturdays available. The venues are great.. but for one the surrounding area is a bit of an eyesore but you only really see it when you come in

If Fenton isn’t too far check out Fenton Winery and Brewery. I thought it was beautiful, you get both indoor and outdoor space.
