Venue Proposal: Anxiously waiting…

Jessa, on August 18, 2022 at 5:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
So my fiancé and I have been searching and touring venues throughout the last month. 3 weeks ago we toured this one venue that we fell in love with. We actually thought we were set on a previous venue, but that quickly changed after we saw this one. Anyways, a day after the tour, I had emailed the venue sales coordinator (whom we scheduled the tour with) that we were interested in taking the next step of putting a two week hold on a date we wanted, and she said the event associate, whom she cc’d on our emails, would be the one to get a proposal made for us and would send it as soon as it’s done. Well, it’s been over a week now and still no proposal received. We were told our hold is good till next Tuesday, but how are we supposed to make a decision by then if we still don’t have it? I’ve emailed them on Monday to follow up and see how the proposal making has been going and when to expect to receive it—still haven’t even gotten a response back from any of them. Maybe we were spoiled with the other venues we’ve toured, because they’ve sent their proposals either the same day we toured or at most a day after… Do proposals normally take this long to come back? I’m about to contact them again because now I’m psyching myself out thinking we may lose out on this venue that we really love and want, but then I’m also thinking if this lack of communication or delayed response is happening now, what more for later down the line as wedding planning progresses once we agree to the venue? Ugh. Thanks for coming to my rant for whoever is reading this.

Summer is peak season but that is not an excuse to ignore potential clients. If you don’t hear from them in 3-5 business days after your tour, call them up or visit in person. Emails are often overlooked and no one can ignore you visiting in person. If you still don’t get a response, move on.

I agree with Michelle, if you really love the place and feel like it’s your dream, try visiting in person, a lot harder to ignore. Good luck 🍀

Personally, I would not continue with a venue that doesn’t respond quickly right off the bat. When things get closer, you’ll need prompt responses. Our Coordinator responded the same day.
I don’t understand why the wait for proposals. The venue should have a set menu of prices established that are readily available.

That’s what I was thinking too—that there are set prices, so it shouldn’t really take too long to make. What I didn’t understand is that they give us a hold for two weeks, yet if we don’t even have the proposal, how can we make that decision by the deadline? Unless they extend the hold, which I think it should be extended. But, I understand what you mean by not continuing with a place that has the potential to not be as reliable later on if they can’t be prompt now…we just love this venue so much 😭 Thank you for your input!

I think I will try calling tomorrow morning and if still no luck even getting ahold of anyone on the phone (which if that’s the case, then maybe this venue isn’t for us afterall), then I’ll make my way there in person to show them I mean business. We just truly love this venue so much and have our hearts set on it 😭 thank you for your input!

I was thinking the same thing at first. I know this venue has held some open houses for couples the last couple weeks. So I figured maybe they’re really busy with those…but still…you would think they put priority on the couples, such as us, that have already shown interest and would like to move forward…I will try to get ahold of them tomorrow morning then, and if that still doesn’t work, I will show up in person. Thank you for your input!

Technically, the 2 week deadline should start the day you receive the proposal.
Our venue offered 3 different packages where the top priced one offered top shelf alcohol and a 1 year anniversary stay at the hotel, etc. This is standard to have on hand.

What are the google and other reviews like?

I would pick up the phone and call them! It took
8 weeks of waiting and emailing our photographer to get our engagement pics back this summer…. As someone else mentioned, this is the wedding busy season but no excuse to ignore clients! After I called the photographer, I received my pics less than 24 hrs later! If they don’t take action after your phone call, it might be a sign to move on to another venue….
