Venue rental time

Lauren, on September 25, 2016 at 12:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Hi there, New here, I just visited an awesome venue and the rental time is only 4.5 hours. What is average or normal? That time includes the ceremony and reception. Its a bed and breakfast venue in Frederick, MD. Other than that it is perfect and I can add on extra time just a little costly.

That's what mine is. 30 minutes for ceremony and 4 hours for reception. Very pretty!

ETA I think some people throw 1 hr cocktail hour in there, too, but I think 4.5 hours is fine.

Seems normal to me. Mine is a 4 or 5 hour reception and time starts when cocktail hour starts.

    That seems pretty standard.

Mine is 5 hours. Ceremony at 4:00pm and reception usually ends at 9:00pm. We extended an extra 2 hours. You're venue may offer this as well.

That seems pretty standard as long as you keep things moving during the reception. I went to a wedding last month. The wedding was at 4. Reception was only a few blocks away and they didn't do the first dance until almost 7. That was three hours. (they did the toasts and everything before the dance, but still.) I felt as though that was way too long in between main events. As long as you are more organized, 4.5 hours should be plenty!

Part of it depends on how many people you have; it takes less time to move 30 people around than 200. It also takes less time to feed them...

The other part is making sure your ceremony starts on time.

That's pretty standard, I think. Every place we looked at was about 5 hours.

I have mine from 9am-10pm. We could go earlier if we wanted, we just have to let them know.

ETA- ceremony starts at 4 & we plan to be completely done by 9 though

I added an extra hour to mine because it was only 4 hours long for ceremony and reception.

I have my venue from 9AM to 1AM

That gives enough time for the wedding planner to go in and decorate

Does that time include set up and tear down too? If so, doesn't seem like enough. My venue gave an extra two hours included for set up/cleanup so I would ask if yours includes something like that too.
