Is your budget for the whole wedding $1,200 or just the venue? Either way, I would look into free (or nearly free) venue options, like a public park or maybe a church if you're religious. There are also community centers or VFW centers. If your budget is $1,200 just for the venue, you may be able to rent out a hotel ballroom or something along those lines.

Agree with pp that it depends on what the $1200 needs to cover, but I'd probably look for a restaurant with a private room that could accommodate your guest list. If the $1200 just needs to cover the venue/food/beverage/etc., that would give you a budget of about $45 pp, including tax/service charge and/or tip. Especially if you did a luncheon, I'd think you could find something that would fit your budget. If $1200 needs to cover everything (e.g., attire, officiant, etc.), then I agree I'd look for something like your church or a park pavillion, and just have a cake and punch reception following the ceremony. Good luck!

Well if you are inviting people you need to feed them as a thank you for taking time to attend your wedding even if it is minor travel. Cheapest thing is to do a park as for some you just rent a shelter and then you can do it in an area nearby. My friend did that and I saw a wedding this weekend at a popular park and the did a nice draping on a large tree and even had chairs set up. That can go easily under $300 and the remainder of the food you could do fruit and cheese, veggie and cheese and cracker trays plus some cake and champagne or punch. Does not need to be an elaborate reception and can be done at the shelter in the park.

100% agree! And having your ceremony at non-meal time will keep the costs low for hosting a reception for your guests. Just a few light snacks, drinks, and cake would be perfect Smiley smile

Well we were going to take every one out to eat. It should would be cheaper that way than 90.00 per person. And I got my bridesmaid a gift along with the Groomsmen

It depends on where you are located. Have you checked the venue tab here on WW? You can look at local venues and it has a price range listed. Then you can reach out to the venues that interest you and fall within your budget.

I have and I am using that as well. I haven't came across anything that matches our budget. I live in Tallapoosa Ga so we are trying to find something in a 50 mile radius

True true. Amber is right so avoid dinner time. Any time before 5pm is suggested like 1-4p.

Oh lol. Oh yeah that is great. Sorry I assumed you were not going to feed them at all. I think a park would be nice. I am unfamiliar with that part of Georgia but even if you drive maybe 30 minutes away not too bad. I am interested in a venue that is about 30 minutes from where I live but it is a bed and breakfast and looks beautiful. Oh consider a bed and breakfast too for the ceremony.

You could totally. I would do a variety for sure. Something to give them a little bit to nibble on and maybe let them know so they can prepare in advance. Some people come hungry.

Girl I am in the same boat. We just bought a house and this is our 3rd wedding for the both of us. I am looking to spend the most on reception because we are gonna have a very small ceremony like at a park or even in our backyard.

Yea our ceremony is 1500.00 at The Castle at Wildwood Gardens in Waco Ga. And our reception is in Sewll Mill in Bremen Ga it's only $500.00
We decided to do our own food to save $ and we decided to get those inexpensive Wedding cameras so our Wedding party can take pics.
