Venue

Just got engaged about 2 weeks ago. Wondering when I should book a venue for around 100 guests?

As soon as possible. Most venues are fully booked for 2022 and many are also booked for 2023.

Honestly just relax and enjoy being engaged for a couple weeks before you plan. Then you need to sit down together and have discussions on what your priorities are to focus your attention and budget on (guest experience of good food/free drinks/great dj and quality photos for your memories is what most choose), as well as deciding on your guest list and getting that set in stone. You also need to decide a budget. Be aware that getting financial help from others comes with strings and you lose the ability to make final decisions.

Then be aware that unless you get an outside the box venue that no one else is using, you may have to be willing to settle for a date 1-3 years away.

I would start looking for a venue now to get that out of the way. The others are right about people booking for next year already.

I would also say as soon as possible. Venues can sometimes book up to 2-3 years in advance - especially with the post-COVID wedding boom happening now. I would say make it a priority, then you can relax a little bit with the other items.

It depends on when you're getting married?

It really, really depends on when and where you want to get married. If you are okay with a weekday in the winter (think January-March) then you can relax a little bit more than if you want to get married on a Saturday in summer or fall. Location also matters! Wedding venues like wineries and the like are booked up far in advance whereas a pavilion at a state or local park might not be.

I really think it should be the first thing you book. It will solidify the date and inform all your other choices. Make sure you have a good budget plan first though.

Now. You don't have a date until you have a venue
