My fiancé and I are looking for venues in MA CT and RI that double for ceremony and reception and allow outside catering; preferably a venue that also comes with 1-2 staff members included in the price. We looked at The Towers in Narragansett, but were immediately turned off by the reviews. (Price increases two weeks before the wedding, lost deposit checks, etc.)
We want our wedding to be not only a celebration about us, but about all of the people in our lives. We are asking certain guests, instead of wedding gifts, to make their signature dish that means a lot to us and our journey.
We're hoping it will go like this:
We give $xx.xx amount to a guest to make a dish for X amount of people.
Guest makes the dish, arrives at the venue and hands it off to a staff member who will then set up dish (most likely just place over sterno) at the buffet table.
Each dish will have a placard in front of who made it and how we met them.
Anyone done this before? Does it sound plausible?
