Very quick thank you speech

Mr&Mrs89, on June 21, 2017 at 11:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 14

My fiance and I don't want to be doing a long speech at all. We both hate doing speeches, it's not our thing and we don't like getting emotional in front of people. Anyone have any examples of a super quick straight to the point thank you speech ?

My husband and I did this at our wedding. It's pretty straight forward. We thanked everyone for coming and celebrating with us.

I did this at ours. I thanked everyone for coming to celebrate with us, gave an extra thanks for everyone who prayed for us while H was deployed...and at that point I started crying and turned the microphone over to my MOH, who did the first toast.

Thank you all for coming and celebrating our special day with us, we truly appreciate it. Please don't drink and drive and have safe travels when you head off

We didn't do a speech at our wedding. Only the best man, my father and my brother did speeches.

I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where the bride and groom have a thank you speech or any speech at all

Toasts are much more appropriate than speeches. They are also shorter, so that should help.

    Sample:

Today, we are honored to stand before all of you and pledge our love to one another. Our lives have only been enhanced by the love brought into it by all of you. We especially want to thank our parents for everything they have done.

Bride and groom each take the microphone and separately thank parents.

We also want to thank everyone who has helped us on our journey together.

List anyone who has made the day possible, such as clergy members, special relatives or friends.

Finally, we want to thank everyone who has come out today. We know some of you traveled long distances to be here and we thank you all for your sacrifice to celebrate with us. You all are truly special to us, and we would not be here without everyone in this room.

Thank you all for your love and generosity. We love you all. Cheers!

I thought about doing a speech, but if the reception is the thank you, doing table visits is a thank you, (thank you cards too)... when I think about... do I REALLY need to do a speech? Right now our timeline is like 2 hours of dancing, I'd rather try to have as much dance time as I can get. Smiley smile

My H basically said thank you to everyone who came, our vendors, and me (which was a surprise) . It was super simple but I think it was appreciated. We also went to every table to thank them.

Thank you everyone, I don't know if it's my area but everyone here especially my fiance family is pushing us to do a speech. I have been to couple where bride and groom do a sappy speech but I can't do that. I told my in laws that , I understand they want us to honour my future husband's mother who passed 9 years ago in a speech like his sister did at her wedding but neither of us are comfortable with being that emotional in front of people like that. So we agreed to just do quick thank you speech and that's it.

To honour anyone that can't be at our wedding (my fiance mom and my grandparents ) I was thinking of doing a moment of silence at the ceremony. Or would that be weird ?

4 weeks until our big day!! Smiley smile

"We want to thank everyone for their love and support today, especially our parents. We appreciate everyone who came to celebrate and hold in our hearts those we are missing. We hope you eat, drink and dance---CHEERS!"

I didn't do a moment of silence, but our officiant included some verbiage related to those who can't be with us in our ceremony.

We didn't do one. Instead, we stood at the exit, handed out favors, and said goodbye/thanks for coming to everyone as they left the venue

My DH basically said thanks to everyone for coming and celebrating our day with us. He mentioned all the friends that came from far away to be there to share the day. short and sweet.
