I think everyone has given you great suggestions, but I just wanted to say how beautiful of an idea I think this is.

Look into poppies. They have a symbolic military story behind them.

So fun! Maybe a groom's cake too? Or a military themed topper? You could do military themed favors too. I like red white & blue colors and decor. It can be done really classy!

What branch of the service is he in?
if it’s the Army, use the Black and Gold
Air Force= Blue and White
Coast Guard= Red and White
Navy = Blue and Gold
USMC = Red and Black (Nov 10th is the Marine Corps Birthday as well)
