Video Guest Book and HELP

Ifeoma, on August 3, 2017 at 12:22 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

Hey All, my FH and I were originally getting a photobooth that included a way for our guests to record video messages for us to view later but we ended up cancelling and going with a friend who has a booth himself for dirt cheap as a gift to us but we actually were looking forward to having a video guest book. So my sister's best friend who isnt invited to the wedding was going to help out and go around and do guest interviews and ask questions like "what's the first thing that you think of when it comes to the couple" "where should they go on their 5th anniversary" "what's the secret to marriage" "what should they do to get over their first fight" etc etc.

I was wondering what everyone thought of this idea (hopefully positive thoughts because yes we are going to pay him) and if you have any suggestions as to questions we can have him ask....

We appreciate your help in advance!

Friendors are not popular. That said, will you have contracts with them? I agree that you should keep the professional so your friends can enjoy your wedding and not work.

I agree that you should get the photo booth back, but if you don't want to there are a ton of apps for video guest books that are free. I've never used any but I'm sure they can't be too bad.

Not a fan of that idea, sorry. Those kinds of questions I feel are better at a shower. For instance, my MOH had some cute "Bride Advice" note cards that guests wrote on that was given to me after the shower. I think for the video you're just going to hear a bunch of drunk (possibly inappropriate) messages. It may make for a good laugh, but how often are you really going to watch and listen to that?

Skip the friendor, go with a 3rd party vendor for the photo booth, and certainly don't make a guest walk around your wedding doing work recording guests. Let them relax and enjoy the wedding.

Thanks for the opinions all! I wanted to mention the friend is a co-worker who does photobooths for friends and family only it's just a side thing that he does primarily for fun. He actually approached us for it and told us to cancel the other vendor because he didn't think video messages should happen in a photo booth and that the videographers should cover that aspect. The only reason we wanted to get someone else to do it was because the video/photo company would need another person to be able to cover that and all of the parts of our wedding and reception. But I definitely see what you all are saying, maybe we'll rethink it! Thanks for the help!

My niece had a friend who requested 1 minute video clips from the guests that she put together for the shower. It was really fun and touching to see what everyone did with their videos and a great keepsake for her....
