Videographer alternatives

Chelsea, on April 13, 2016 at 5:04 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

Is there anyway to sort of DIY videographer... Or is it best to just stick with the pros, and if so, who's the best?

You can have a friend do it, or have a go pro somewhere but I honestly think it's best left up to the pros. I found ours by searching yelp by highest rated in our area and then going through each one to see what style I liked best. We found a husband and wife team whose style we adored. They were Anza Foto & Film. To say I love our wedding videos, would not be saying enough. I watch them daily and I couldn't be happier with it.

We did Wedit and I was very happy with it. We had a professional photographer but didn't feel the need to spend the money on videography. We paid for Wedit to edit the footage together and that was enough professional work for us- we have a lot of great video of our friends and family enjoying themselves and that's what we wanted There is no question that the videos made by professional videographers are more beautiful, but we love our video and it still feels like a wedding video and makes me cry every time.

It really is best left to the pros. I understand as it's not in my budget either, so I can't afford to hire someone. My parents used to have a business doing wedding videography and the amount of work put into it is well worth the money.

Many people choose to have uncle Joe tape the wedding and often they never get it back, or for some reason there is no audio and you can't hear your vows, or he forgets a battery and it dies and doesn't have a backup etc. etc. So many things can go wrong.

If you have someone you really really trust that can do it, okay... but in my personal opinion and what I've grown up seeing, it's better to let the professionals handle it.

I'm really hoping we can afford a professional. If not, my dad's friend does professional video, but he won't edit it into a highlight reel, and he would just tape the ceremony. If it's important to you, hire a pro.

Hire a pro, a jack leg will just get crappy footage and be in the way if the photographer.....assuming you hired a pro photographer. That, or do without, and do a digital slideshow.

I've read up on weddingmix where guests download the app and upload any photo or video they get of the special day. Then it's edited by pros. And it's alot cheaper! Check it out! Considering doing it for my wedding.

I have a professional photographer and I'm not ready to pay 3500 for a pro videographer so FH and I spent 2000 on a really good camera. We are getting 2 of our church members take the video and the best man is doing the editing (he's into that). We get to keep this good camera for ourselves.
