Videographer for just the ceremony?

Brittany, on June 5, 2018 at 3:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

My FH and I just hired our photographer (yay!) and now I'm thinking about a videographer. I can't imagine there's much at the reception that couldn't be captured perfectly well in pictures. Did anyone else just have a videographer for their ceremony? Was it a cost-effective move?

I don't think their is cost effect with videography because they still put in the same amount of time for editing and such. At least that is what mine said. For my 4 hr long wedding he did give me a $200 discount but he said majority of why they charge so much is because of the time it takes to edit.

Hi Brittany! It's a great idea to include a videographer! Have you tried searching for some through our Vendor's Section? I would begin there! Here is a list of videographers near your location to get you started:

You can filter the results further by availability, price, and other preferences! Good luck!

It's worth getting quotes for just your ceremony! I think a videographer is so nice for memories, especially when people write their own vows or have unique ceremonies. If you can't afford the videographer, I'd set up a video camera from home on a tripod or have the officiant wear a go pro!

Videographers have such a wide range of packages, I think you'll figure out what you want once you start looking. I initially set out just wanting a video of the ceremony, but now I'm getting that and a 4-5 minute highlight video. I think that will capture enough of what I want to remember the day by. My videographer didn't offer that as a package, but he made it one for me. I'd recommend finding the top few videographers whose portfolios you like, then seeing what packages they have and talking to them about what you want. One thing I found in my search was that the quality and style of videographers varies sooooo widely, even more so than photographers, so it was easy to narrow it down to 2-3 options and go from there.
