Videographer- worth it or skip it?

I have heard mixed reviews about videographers... I have a few friends who say they watch their video once a month if not more and others who have seen it twice. Is getting a videographer worth it?

We had one and I'm so glad we did.

Our highlight video is on our FBs, and I totally go back and watch it, and we have shared the videos with our parents, as well. We have a hard drive full of clips, which covers most of the day.

Definitely agree with Alyssa. If you are nostalgic then get one. We facebook livestreamed our ceremony (SIL held my phone) and that was more than enough for us. My husband and I watched it the morning after the wedding but haven't since then.

My husband and I skipped it and have no regrets. I'd say skip it and put some of the extra money you're saving from not having one towards a better photographer.

Most people I know who actually got a videographer for their wedding never actually watch their wedding video. We skipped it, although I considered getting one when we had a small Covid ceremony since there were so many people important to us who couldn't be there. I ended up not doing it because of the strict requirements still in place (plus not wanting to spend more than we already had on vendors we weren't able to use). If you are having a small, intimate event and have money to splurge it I would consider doing a videographer to capture those moments and share with a larger group of people. If the budget is tight, I'd prioritize getting a really good photographer over a mediocre photographer and mediocre videographer. I personally thing photographs are more timeless, easier to share, and easier to regularly enjoy. I would not skimp on photography at all to make room in the budget for a videographer.

We had my cousin who's in school for videography do the wedding. Saved a lot of money and it was TOTALLY worth it. You may look into a student who is studying probably a cheaper option? Either way it's totally worth it.

We don't watch it often, but believe me, it's like videos of your kids, you will want it some day. Just make it happen.

I haven't had my wedding yet, but I am planning on getting a videographer. For me, I want to watch it on anniversaries. Marriage is hard, and there's a lot of trying times and difficult moments that are going to happen, regardless of how perfect everything may seem. I know my fiancé and I have been together going on 9 years, and we've been through so, so, so, much in that period of time and we got through it (I do wonder how sometimes though, haha!) But for me, in those difficult time to come, it'll be a nice reminder of why we decided to get married when things are so tough you forget. I also want one because I know this will be the last time my entire family will be together, both sides. And I want to treasure that because so many won't be there already. Think about what you value, and if you value photos more than videos, do that. I value both as well as memories, and I'm willing to spend the extra amount because you can make up the money at work, you can't make up the memories and I don't ever want to say "if only..." Or "I wish I would have..." I know, I'm a hopeless romantic haha 🤷🏼‍♀️

We hired one for the big wedding but didn't have one for our minimony. I found out at the rehearsal that my father-in-law would record the ceremony on his old school recorder, and after watching it, I'm very grateful he did record it but now I'm especially looking forward to next year when hopefully our videographer can get even better angles of everyone. If you can afford it, I say do it, but if you are iffy on spending the money, you can also have a family or friend do it.

I was planning on to opt out of having a videography just because I know I'm not going to watch the video a ton, I may pull it out in the future or something but I feel It wouldnt be a regret it is not a must have for me atleast. Then we found a photogragher who does an all in one package video and photos so we are going to have a videogragher after all but only because its included in our package and its not costing a ton. I feel it has it's pros and cons, its really your preference and if you feel it is worth it.

So worth it! We haven't got our full length video back yet, but we got back a 30 second trailer, which I've been watching at least once a day since the wedding (I know, I know, but I'm a sentimental person.) We also wrote our own vows and I wanted those preserved forever.
