Videographer; yes or no? And who?

Krista, on December 11, 2016 at 7:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 39

Do y'all suggest we get a videographer or no? Everyone I've talked to says yes. But they're so expensive! I can't afford much more for our wedding... any suggestions??

I didn't have one, and I don't regret it. I'm not the kind of person who enjoys seeing herself on video.

We haven't hired one, and I don't think we will. I just don't think we'd watch the video enough to justify the price.

I don't have one and we won't have one. My FH has been married once and they did video their wedding. He said the same thing that it was super expensive and they watched it once and never saw it again. I think it is a personal choice but I think it is very expensive and, my personal opinion, that money could be spent on something else.

It's one of those things, if you can afford a really good one, and value it, do it. A rookie wedding videographer just gets in the way and you won't love the product.

We dont have one but it is one thing I was told I would regret. Its just not in my budget unless I cut something else which I dont want to do. If you can afford then I would say go for it!!

Though our wedding is smaller and on a lower budget, I got one because I want to hear our vows again and see little moments again and in a new light.

Instead of a video my photographer suggested have a testimony booth..(it's like a video and photo booth put together)

We have one, It was one of the first choices we selected after finding a venue. Good Photography and videography was very important to me so we got a package that included both and for a discount

I originally didn't think I wanted one but I kept hearing over and over it was people's biggest regret. I am so, so glad I got one. I've watched it well over 100 times & I love it more each and every time.

I chose someone who wasn't new to video but was new to the wedding market. His rates were just a tad cheaper than average. If you can find an up and coming videographer the rates will be better.

I echo what Amanda S said. I wanted a photojournalistic style so I Went on Google and Yahoo maps and searched for videographers (NOT wedding videographers). I reached out to companies and got a mix of responses: some said they didn't do wedding videography, some were out of my budget, and one was willing to reduce his price for us. Do some research, be upfront about your budget, and the right videographer will come to you if you want one.

I found one that gives you 8-10 hours of coverage for a good price, but gives you only the raw footage. We decided to go this route because it is a lot cheaper but we still have the footage. We will get it edited for a special occasion down the road.

We aren't hiring one because it doesn't fit in our budget. I'm not too affected by it though. I would rather have amazing photos over a video we will barely ever watch.

I wasn't going to hire a videographer in the beginning. I didn't think it was necessary because I was paying so much for a great photographer. But while researching DJs I saw a wedding video posted on one of the websites and got extremely emotional. I called FH and told him I wanted a videographer. Luckily I had an safety net in my budget for anything extra that came up. I hired a videographer for 5 hours, mostly for the ceremony and the major parts of the reception Luke the first dance and cake cutting.

I'm deciding on if I want to hire one too! I am close to the top of my budget and don't know that I will be able to afford one, since I splurged so much on my photographer. I'd love to hear a price range on what videographers cost here in the Atlanta market, as I really don't have a clue!

We weren't going to get a videographer for our wedding but my sister found one for hers that was affordable and had an amazing video. I'm honestly so glad we got one - it's so cool to have a video from your wedding day, and I love the fact that we can rewatch important moments from that day. I hate seeing myself on video but loved the video we ended up with. I would recommend it if it fits into your budget.

Yes. My only regret from my proposal was that it went by so quickly and it wasn't videotaped, even though we have great pictures from it. I've heard that the wedding day is a whirlwind and we wont remember everything from it, and I want to be able to relax and watch how everything turned out after the fact, especially since we are pouring so much money into it! I got lucky and found a videographer who will shoot my ceremony and reception (minimally edited) for $500. He's on the younger, less established side, but we saw his portfolio and really liked it and we can't afford more.
