Videographer yes or no?

Jacqueline, on May 4, 2018 at 7:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Dear past brides and future brides, did you have a videographer? And if not, did you regret not having one? I don’t really want a videographer, but I also don’t want to regret not getting one. Help!

If you don't want to have a videographer and don't want to regret not getting one try this site called wedit! https://www.wedit.com/ basically they rent you HD cameras that your guests use to capture the day and ,you send back the cameras with the footage and the wedit team will edit and create a wedding video for you! I have a videographer, but if I didn't I would have done this for sure. I heard great things about it and it's supposed to save a lot of money as well Smiley smile good luck!

I got one and my oldest sister did as well. My other sister did not and I think she regretted it after seeing my oldest sister's video. I like the cinematography videos the best and of course they are the most expensive, but I think it will be nice to have it to look back on and show our future kids. Something fun to do. Plus they turn out so great, I cry at every one I see.

For me, it took a lot of discussion with my FH to convince him to let us get one. At first, it was initially because we didn’t budget for it and it was “lower” on our priority list. Once we hit well past our savings for the wedding, we decided to get one. I didn’t want to regret not having one and we ended up getting a discount by booking through our same entertainment company. I’m looking forward to it as I’m a person who loves rewatching and revisiting pictures and memories.

I had been in contact with a few videographers a few months ago but my FH and I discussed it further and are ok with not hiring one. We’d rather look at pictures in an album than watch ourselves in a video. And we don’t see ourselves watching longer form videos often. I think videography would have put us over budget more than we would like, and we’d rather go over budget for things guests would like, like extra desserts and other things for the guest experience.

This sounds amazing! Waayyyy better than FH GoPro camera idea😂 (jokes). I will look into this! Thanks so much!

OP- I'm undecided as well. Want one but not certain one is necessary. Not sure that we'll actually watch it often, thinking pictures may be enough... I'm going to check out the recommended site.

I didn't, but I really hate seeing myself on video. I've seen some really incredible wedding videos shared here on WW, though!

We had a videographer. No regrets at all. He did a wonderful job and my mom and grandma have watched our wedding video many many times and my hubby and I also watched it a few times.

On the fence on this also. I had my sweet 15, did the whole traditional thing, photo & video. I’ve only seen that video ONCE, & only because I had to show it to my family in Mexico who weren’t able to travel to the event. The photos, I’ve gone through a few times. As for the wedding, I don’t know. I don’t see myself watching it more than once, maybe twice when we show our kids in the future. I would love to find a cost effective but quality option that can give me a “tv show” time (30min) version of the wedding, if that makes sense.

Wow, this is so cost effective. I’ve been on the fence about hiring a videographer because we didn’t budget for one but this could work for us. Thanks for sharing Smiley smile

Yes! I saved $1,500 to make sure we got a videographer (and that was on the super low end of pricing for them). Even if you can just afford video of the ceremony & speeches, it's so nice to have. I've watched my parent's wedding video several times. Even if you set up a video camera from home on a tripod or ask your officiant to wear a go-pro, I'd do it!
