Videographer?

Melissa, on May 29, 2019 at 4:20 PM Posted in Texas Planning 0 6
Do you think having a videographer is worth the money? Would I miss it if I didn’t have one? We’ve only planned $2500 for a wedding photographer, I don’t think we can afford both. Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Hey Melissa!

There are a lot of pros when it comes to hiring a videographer but it ultimately comes down to whether you personally feel it is worth the expense.

I’ve found an article from the ideas section that lists The 5 Reasons You MUST Hire a Videographer For Your Wedding. It lists the reasons why a couple might want to hire a videographer to capture their day. I think the most compelling reason is that you will be so busy on your wedding day that it will fly by so fast that you will not have been able to see everything. The videographer will capture your guests mingling and enjoying your wedding, they will capture things you missed and you will be able to watch it back.

On the other hand, they can be pricey. Have you checked out the WeddingWire Cost Guide for Videographers in Texas? You can check out the average cost in your area and then search within your budget.

Have you booked your photographer yet? If not, perhaps you could look into hiring a photographer and videographer from the same company in a package.

I’m so happy to see others struggling with this question!

I have seen so many things about how you “must”. But in 10-20 years will we really watch it?

I’m terrified of spending lots of money on something I don’t use.

    Good luck!!

As a videographer myself, let me preface this by saying that I am a little biased towards wedding videography. Video captures so many moving moments that photography just cannot do. I've spoken with a lot of the older women in my family and they can barely remember things about their wedding day, let alone all of those small intimate moments that video can capture. Having family and friends on video to remember for years that may not be around when you watch it in 20 years, can mean so much.

Video just holds so much emotion and love from your day and while photography can do a lot of that as well, video can be just so much more.

If you decide to go with a videographer, PLEASE do your research. Don't just go with someone because they're inexpensive. You want to feel something when you watch their videos. Check Wedding Wire, check Facebook groups, and check all reviews. Happy planning!

If you've already booked your photographer and spent your allocated budget, then stick to your budget. However, if you haven't booked anyone yet, definitely look into the different options. You might be able to do 1 photographer (instead of 2) and a videographer.

I think you have to do what you feel is best for you and your FH. That includes evaluating if you'll really ever watch it?!?!?!? I mean it might be nice to look back afterwards and see all that happened that day, since it will be a whirlwind for y'all.

Video to me is worth every penny. There are three things you get to keep after the wedding, pics, videos, and rings!

I found the easiest way is find a company that does both. You save when you bundle.
