Videographers - Pros and Cons

Missi, on June 27, 2014 at 6:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

So thinking about it, it seems as if having a professional film my wedding would be basically a waste of money. You get it back, watch it that day, and then never really watch it again. Why spend so much money on something that's going to be watched, maybe twice, in a lifetime? I'd rather spend the money for a photographer, and then just get the videos that people take on their phones.

Does this make me crazy? Does it make sense? Am I completely wrong?

Help!

Thanks!

I had a videographer at my wedding and I am so happy that I did! She was able to capture moments that the photographer can't. And you will watch it more than twice for sure - at least we do. My friend watches her wedding video all the time and I'm sure I will as well.

If you can afford it, I would totally recommend it! And you can give a copy to your parents or something as a gift as well - if they're into that sort of thing. Smiley smile

I would never have gotten a photographer and not a videographer. FH didn't want one, but I convinced him we needed one. It's your one special day, making it last in video is worth it to me.

If you think that is all you would watch it, then I think you have your answer.

I knew I would watch it a ton. I watch home videos all the time... I am a sentimental type. So to me it was worth it.

The only "con" of a videographer is the cost. There are far more pros in my opinion, you just have to figure out if the pros outweigh the con!!

I did the first time I got married. When we received it, we watched it about 6 times in two weeks [alone, with friends, with family], then we put it away until our first anniversary when we watched it again. Then we put it away and never watched it again over the course of the next 10 years.

It is a personal decision, but I won't be doing it this time. The really good videographers just cost too much.

    Thanks for your help everyone!

We're trying to cut costs where we can, and neither of us are sure if we'll regret not having a professional videographer. We don't think we'll really watch it often (if even more than once), but of course you never know.

Heres a link to my video

It was worth every penny. I love it and so many family members who were there have watched it and cried all over again, lol =)

I literally had to turn of the computer so my mom wouldn't watch it for the 5th time in a row!

I can't imagine that I'll throw it in a box and never watch it again. Knowing my husband, he'll probably whip it out every anniversary to rekindle the magic! =)=)
