Videographers!

Emily, on March 29, 2022 at 10:41 PM Posted in Planning 10 21
Hi all!

My fiancé and I are trying to decide if a videographer is worth it. What do you all think? Any opinions or advice is greatly welcomed! If you did use one, how much do you think is a reasonable amount of money to spend on them?
Thanks!
Emily

If you have a photographer, talk to them. See if they have any videographers they’ve worked with and enjoyed. I’m personally not getting one cause it’s not in are budget and video isn’t very important to me. 😊

We didn't have a videographer. Budget was not an issue--we simply didn't feel the need to have one because we had an excellent photographer. We don't have any regrets. If you think you will regret not having a videographer later on, then I'd go ahead and contact a bunch of vendors and get quotes to compare to see what's reasonable in your area

We opted not to have one. It wasn't in our budget and we also knew we would just never watch a wedding video. I have no regrets. We've got beautiful photos which we're super happy with and that's all we need.

We hired a very expensive photographer but we decided last minute to also hire a videographer. I don’t know if I regret that or not but I wanted to be able to watch back and listen to us when we do our first look and have our ceremony

We specifically looked for a photographer that also did videography because I knew I wanted to have a video to look back on. If you think you want a video but cost is a concern, you could look into booking someone for just the ceremony. Usually having someone for just an hour or so is a lot cheaper than having them stay through the whole event, providing an extra vendor meal, etc.

I think it's totally worth it. watching it is so different than flipping through hundreds of photos.

i watch my video quite often because its easier watching a 3 minute video than sorting through all those photos

That is a great idea! Didn’t think of just doing the ceremony. I should have looked for one with photographers but of course didn’t think ahead. Thanks for the idea though!

I have a terrible memory and will likely forget everything said so having it on video will be nice. It definitely wasn’t super in our budget and wasn’t cheap but honestly our wedding financially got to a point where we’re like 🤷🏻‍♀️ Guess we’ll figure it out lol

We hired 2 photographers and a videographer and feel that it was the absolute best decision that we could have ever made!

What one photographer didn't see the other was able to capture.

Plus the videos that we got back from our wedding day are better than we even thought they would have been! If it is in your budget, do the necessary research, ask the questions and hire one as it will be well worth it! As we are super happy with how it all turned out and thoroughly enjoy being able to look all the photos yet also being able to watch the videos to relive all the special moments from our wedding day!

Hey thanks for the reply! We do have two photographers which I’m super happy about- when we hired our girl we were able to add on the second photographer in our package which is great!

I’m leaning towards doing the videographer for sure, anyone that has gotten one says it was worth it!

We had a friend hold the camera for us and they did that for the ceremony and the reception and we didn't have to pay him for that either. We haven't actually watched our wedding video and have looked at our photos way more often. It can cost a lot of money to have both and then to not watch the video or ever see them. Smiley smile

I was actually considering this! Having a friend tape the ceremony and the speeches and dances and anything that I would want to see again. Glad to know someone thought of that too!

Yeah I think it is a good way to go because then you can get raw footage of everything as well and you might get things that a videographer wouldn't put in to a final production. It's certainly worth a thought I think Smiley smile

We opted to get one. I can envision us looking back at it when we are old and grey. lol I hope to make it an anniversary tradition to watch it each year. My fiancé loved that idea too. Smiley smile

We also think about getting one but it's kinda 2 in 1 deal since our photographer works with videographer and the price is significantly lower than it would be for two totally separate services. See if your photographer does the same or can provide contacts of people she knows. The average price would also vary depending on where you are so look at the prices first to get the general idea.

That being said, having no videographer is also fine. If you friends would be filming stories or short vids, you can ask them to email you that and then make one video via Clipify or Inshot, then send it to everyone back. It wouldn't be a professional thing for sure but filmed from different angles and full of life still! My friend did this and it was funSmiley love
