Videography - why or why not?

For those who are choosing to go with a videography, why? For those opting not to have one, why? I haven't decided if I want one for our wedding or not.

We originally wanted one, but have decided against it.

We first asked our friends and family that had one, whether or not they would recommend it. Most said no because they never watch it. Only one couple said we needed one, and the wife is the one that watches it everyday on their TV. (not even joking...)

We searched several videographers whose styles we liked, and inquired about pricing. All were over $1k, and we just couldn't justify spending that much money on a video we'd watch maybe twice and never look at again.

Our photographer is amazing, so we won't be missing out. Plus we have other priorities that the money for that will go towards!

If you have the budget for it and think you'll actually get your money's worth from watching it, then go for it!

We weren’t going to get one at first because of cost. But now that we’ve had to postpone twice, and have more time to save, we decided to get one. We love our photographer and definitely feel she will capture the moments perfectly. But pictures can’t capture the speeches or dancing. We also have some features that would look better in a video. Plus in our mind, the more people there are to capture the moments, the less will be missed.

I'm not going to have a videographer though I think it would be nice if you can afford it and find a good one. We likely won't even have a photographer but we'll have people taking pictures still.
