Videography

Jordan, on May 19, 2021 at 4:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hi Ladies,

Question for all the brides out there. Did you get a videographer for your ceremony? Why or why not? I am so on the fence and my mom asked me about it today. From all the articles I've read and videos I've watched, no one watching it besides the bride and groom and they may only do it once or twice so I am not sure its worth it. Please feel free to share your thoughts!

Yes we did. We went with a cinematographer. We also got a second shooter for our cinematographer. I like video much more than photos. For whatever reason I can’t stand the way I look in photos, but I love the way I look in video. I also feel like sometimes photos don’t really capture as much emotion as watching the video and hearing the sounds of peoples voices etc. not only do we get the rough footage, but we also get a 5 to 7 minute highlight film which is basically like a movie trailer. Typically they shoot an HD and they also use drone footage, which is another feature that a photographer can’t give you. My fiancé and I knew the exact place we always wanted to get married and we would always look at it when we were driving over the bridge. The drone footage is a really important part for us because it is what we’ve always looked at and always imagined having our wedding there.

For my original date, we decided against a videographer. Costs were too high for the options we looked at and we just couldn't find one that included what we were looking for. Since we postponed due to COVID, we ended up booking a videographer for our new date, and I'm so excited that we did! Photos are definitely one of the things I'm most looking forward to from my wedding (apart from getting to marry my fiance, of course), but there are some things that video includes that photos just don't show: the sounds of my fiance and I reading our vows, the way my fiance dances, the sounds of the voices of my grandparents, etc. We decided that we'd rather not find out later if we'll regret not having a wedding video, so we booked a videographer. It's totally personal preference though - if it's in your budget and you think you'd watch the video, go for it! Otherwise, if you really don't have any interest in it, totally fine to skip it. If you're interested in booking one depending on cost, search local wedding Facebook groups for videographers within your budget, or ask a local college if they have any film students available!

I did because i wanted video but honestly i see a lot of people just happy enough with photos especially cause video does cost more and if you dont have the budget for it, its ok to skip if youre good on photography

Our wedding is next summer. We decided to have 2 photographers, and opted out on videographer. We just don’t think it’s worth it. Our second photographer will record some clips of the speeches, first dance, father/daughter dance, and mother/son dance for us. I know it’s not the same as having a videographer, but we think that + guests phones will enough for us.

Look at it like a home video. There’s so much captured that you can’t get in photos such as people’s voices, etc. You don’t watch those all the time but they are irreplaceable.

We live streamed our wedding and the app we used for that saved the video. We actually did watch it about a week after the wedding, the night before we both went back to work after our honeymoon. I'm glad we didn't spend the extra money for a pro, though, because I can't really see us busting this out super often. Maybe milestone anniversaries (5yr, 10yr, etc.), but generally not throughout the year. That's just us, though. My husband is much more of an "in the moment" person and prefers to just remember his experiences as he had them. I absolutely love scrapbooking, and looking back on the pictures is always more special and sentimental to me than watching a video.

I just made a post about this a week or so ago, if you can go to my profile and read some more answers there.

I decided to go ahead and get one, but I looked at TONS of options to find the least expensive one for what I think is a good value in return. It'll be about $1200, whereas most in my area are about $3k. Some of the perspectives that really swayed me are getting to see/hear loved ones again in the future, after they have passed; and getting to see moments that I'm not present in the room for- like FH and the groomsmen getting ready in the morning, FH seating the mothers, and stuff like that.

We’ve booked a videographer. There will be a four person team. Two photographers, a videographer and a drone operator. This will help cover all the angles. I don’t want to miss a second ! And I’m pretty sure I’ll watch it a million times and it will be something nice to show our kids one day.

I am not doing a videographer, but I have a couple friends who have volunteered to go around with just phones and "interview" important people in our life, then we can put it all together. Smiley smile Do not want a videographer, but this will be a special way to capture those I love who won't always be here!

Hello everybody. Did anyone use wedding live streaming services? During quarantine and covid, this seems to be very relevant to me, because not all relatives can come, and thus they seem to be at a wedding.
