Hi girls, I need your feedback! I've heard of a few people doing a video or photo slide show set up on a projector and shown at the wedding or reception. I was thinking of making a small slide show of pictures set to music to show, probably using either our first dance song or another romantic, sweet song to the 2 of us. I have a few questions, though...

1. Is the idea tacky? Will people think it's silly or not want to watch it?

2. If I do it, when should it be shown? Cocktail hour? Right before or after dinner?

3. What kinds of pictures should I include? I'm thinking a handful of me as a child, a handful of my fiance as a child, a few of each of us with our parents (his dad passed away, and I know pictures like that would mean a lot to him), and then some of us together. I was thinking the last picture of the 2 of us could have a message like, "thank you for sharing our wedding day, and helping us to start our new life together" overlaid on top of the picture.

What do you think?

    Hey Lindsey,

My sister in law used a service called gigflixstudio.com and they used movie scenes in and around the pictures of them!

It was amazing how the story was told. It ran about 20 minutes, but youn would never have known.

I'm getting the video for my wedding to next year.

Hope you have a chance to check it out....you kind of have to see their templates to see what its all about.

    Hey Lindsey,

I recently went to a friends wedding and she showed simply the greatest video slideshow I had ever seen...and I don't really think slideshows work well in weddings :-) She had her older brother order and edit a pre-made template that they downloaded off of a site called:

    www.gigflixstudio.com.

Just a great collection of movie scenes intercut with their actual pictures. The cool thing was that they did it themselves and it came out great. Take a look at their templates, they seem pretty fun!

They also use one of my favorite movies: The Princess Bride

I just made one for a wedding! Check out my most recent photo montage video here: https://vimeo.com/129947393

I think these add such a sweet personal touch. After all, the wedding is about the couple & their story, and this is a great way to give you guests a closer look into the marriage they're celebrating! Smiley smile

We had one at our wedding, my husband showed it during his speech. Brought me and a lot of others to tears. Who said he used his friend, so maybe check them out www.creativefalcon.com If there is something specific you want you can email them and they'll find something perfect for you. We also got another made with photos and videos from the day to send out with our thank you cards.

Totally diasagree with above comment. Do it during cake. If people are tortured by spending 15 Minutes while you share your lives with them Don’t invite them to your wedding. It’s your day. It’s a lot of work so don’t ask someone to do it or pay a lot for it if your not going to really show it. Speaking of tacky that would be Facebook, Instagram etc..,

I was thinking about doing the same for my daughter's wedding. Using pictures from her newborn up until now and her finance. I think that is a great way to let people get to know a little about them. I just haven't figured out when.
