vintage china rentals

My Daughter's Wedding, on September 16, 2017 at 4:36 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 20

It seems the select rental companies that have china rentals have a limited collection. What if you wanted vintage china that was not rose mismatched pattern china? What if you wanted mismatched patterns of shades of white or mismatched patterns pf natural organic green etc? Where would you find it? Or say you ere having a winter wedding with red and green colors...Does anyone offer mismatched christmas holley leaves etc prints? I have been searching and seems the choices are rare.. What about vintage blue and white china r vintage amber colored glass collections?

Estate sales and garage sales where you buy it is probably the only way to accomplish this.

Is this just a roundabout way of advertising vintage china rentals?

It just amazes me how most of the vintage rental companies focus on the large furnishings. But what about even the lost arts such as crochet or knitting afghans. Susan I agree it would be expensive to buy but just wish there were rental companies specializing in tabletop wares. Just imagine even if it wasnt a wedding and having a larger thanksgiving or christmas gathering and wanted nice china but did not want to to purchase

I considered this and I think, if we go this route, it would be easier/ cheaper to buy several sets at estate auctions and antique stores, and then hire an event company to take care of setting it and cleaning them afterwards. The problem we ran into was what do we do with all that China afterwards...

Rachel and Daniella yes I agree but how awesome it would be if someone already did the hard work and collected the items you need to fulfill your vision. Then you don't have to hunt or resell!

It's because the more specific you get, the more rare it gets, the more expensive it gets, the less likely they can replace a piece when someone they rent it to breaks it.

It'd be hard to maintain that business idea. Hard enough that it wouldn't be worth it.

@Muriel it is just a thought as we searched for vintage china for my daughters wedding we learned most rental companies had china but very limited selections. Some had big assortments but very few. You see all these styled shoots and weddings in magazines with vintage china and depression glass but hard to find someone who actually has them. We did the blue and white vintage china for my daughters wedding but had to buy ourselves because unable to find rental companies.

Recently someone in my parents' hometown wanted similar mismatched China for her wedding - she ended up buying it all over a long period of time, and she opened a wedding rental business because of it.

It wasn't fast for her to find what she loved, but she's rented it out tons of time to other brides and grooms, and has made her money back. You may not have that in your area, but ask around on local wedding fb boards?

Our venue gave us a list of preferred vendors and a China rental company was on it. She runs her business out of her house.

My DH is an antique dealer. We stopped buying sets of china because we had no market to sell it. Seems if anyone is looking for china, they want it to be microwave and dishwasher proof.

Check your local thrift shops and flea markets. But, keep in mind the value of your time shopping, cleaning, packing, cleaning afterward, and packing again.

@Samantha c the chargers were all mismatched but goldcand shopped at thrift stores all year. All stemware i glittlered the stems gold and sealed. Even though they were mismatched the stems tied them together. Thank you for the compliment.

Wait so are you looking to rent it? Or did you already buy it and use it? I'm confused.

The reason full sets are hard to find is because the sets have been broken up over the years - broken pieces, children inheriting their parents' sets and dividing the pieces, etc.

I'm not sure of the point of this post, considering the wedding date on your profile is from almost a year ago....

@boudreatobe after answering some post and looking through pics I was just reflecting on what I went through to gather enough pieces for my daughters wedding and hope something I did iffers some help or encouragement to someone else in similar setting all the while recognizing the advertising of photos with such gorgeoys pieces but limited places to get large quantities. I still have all my daughters pieces and currently not unterested in renting them but who knows maybe someday. Either way anything is doing with a little creativitySmiley smile
