Vintage Goblets- Supplying my own rentals

BlushingBride03, on November 11, 2015 at 1:37 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

I need some advice for my wedding- approx 100 people. I love the look of mix-matched vintage goblets. Colored goblets for wine/cocktails and clear goblets for water. I already have 80 colored.

I am having a sit-down dinner. Originally, I thought I would have the colored glasses at the table, but then I was thinking, what would people use before dinner? Then I thought to put all the colored glasses at the bar- and leave the clear for table(for water- or wine if someone didn't want water). BUT- then people would have to carry their same glass all night- is that silly?

The catering company said I need 110 water and wine for the table(not a problem with my vintage goblets). In addition I would need A LOT more for our open bar (I am not going to collect 500 glasses for 100 people). My question is, do i just keep the goblets for dinner service and rent regular clear glasses for the bar? Or use the colored at the bar and people have to keep their glass? I will have extra, but not 500.

I would vote for putting the colored ones on the tables. I supplied all my own glassware for 50 guests. I just put water goblets on the tables and all the wine glasses (approx. 100 vintage ones I collected from various places) at the bar. People mostly used the same glass for drinking throughout the reception. My bar was self serve however (backyard wedding). I'm guessing you have a bartender and they will be more likely to use a fresh glass every time someone comes up to the bar. Rent the bar glasses. It will be less headache for you.

Colored glasses on the tables. We rented vintage barware for each guests water glass and chose a similar style wine goblet as well as they looked really lovely on the tables. The bar glasses no one is really going to pay much attention to. Sounds really lovely!!!!

I would put the colored ones on the table. Like you said - you will need a lot more if they are at the bar, or people would have to remember their glass all night. However if you want to give the vintage goblets as a favor - then you could have them be their "glass for the night". I've never seen this in person at a wedding so I don't know how the logistics worked out, but I have seen it with Mason jars on pinterest Smiley smile

Colored on the table and cheaper ones for everything else. my man and i scored a bunch of really pretty glasses at goodwill after 3 trips we had plenty and it cost less than it would have buying them elsewhere.
