Are there any VA brides and what are your plans?

We won't get it until control until we have a federal response with widespread testing, contract tracing and quarantining, large-scale mask compliance, and everyone following the guidelines (no gatherings without masks, reduced travel, little contract with folks outside the household, etc.) We have the ability to get it under control (many other countries have, particularly in Asia, and have returned to mostly normal lives). Vaccines will help but at our current pace, it will take 5+ years to vaccinate the whole population.

Our wedding has been postponed once before! I’m scheduled for May 2021, however it needs to be at least 50 ppl. Unfortunately having to wait puts my out of state guests in limbo which I don’t like. This is a mess🤦🏾‍♀️

    Hi!
We have a May wedding planned at our home.
We were planning on sending our invites out at the end of January. This would probably whittle out a number of our guests who may not be comfortable amongst a group of people....but also....if we find that the governor maintains the limited number of people...we won’t know how many invites to send and to whom. We are also at a loss. I wanted to get the invites out so that I could plan on how many tables/chairs/food/etc would be needed. We have also hired a dj and a photographer. If we only have 10 people...we won’t have a need for all of that. It is concerning. Religious ceremonies are exempt from some of the restrictions I thought. Isn’t a wedding religious? It is a Sacrament.

I'm aware that it will be awhile before it is under control, and even then it probably will never be completely under control as with the Flu.

I don’t know what to do. My bridesmaids all got their dresses February 2020 for my July 2020 wedding. I also have my wedding dress. Rescheduled for June 2021 but it seems that it may be the same situation this year. Also my wedding is on a military base and they are still not letting people in. I’m stressed to say the least.

Hi! My wedding is April 4 2021 in Virginia Beach. Luckily we only wanted 30 total including us. Still daunting with the current 10 person limit. Hoping the governor ups it at least to 25 or 50 by then. I appreciate seeing others post that they are waiting until closer to their date to mail invites. I think I will as well. I send save the dates already so guests are aware. Would hate to cut the list and also, 7 of the guests are kids so that might be what happens if needed. I heard my venue accommodated a wedding recently by splitting a 60 person wedding into 3 rooms so they could follow the mandate but still have the event. Anyone heard of something similar in order to still have the wedding?

Our wedding is 05/22/2021 in va beach. We’ve been worried about this too! We spoke with our venue and our ballroom has a divider so technically they can fit double the government limit in there. We are getting creative with them! Between potential tents on the beach or multiple ballrooms for no additional costs due to the pandemic. Talk with your venues and see what options they have. They want weddings to happen still too so they can keep cash coming in. Get creative with a solution!

Our third rescheduled wedding date is on 4/24/21 in Surry, VA. Come hell or high water we are getting married this time! I'm hoping by the end of April gathering limits will be at least at 50 people. That would ensure all of our wedding party and family can attend. I'm going to wait for the governor's announcement at the end of the month to send out all 100 invites. But I'll probably still end up reaching out to people to shorten the list. ☹️ Fingers crossed!

I’m hoping, wishing, praying that we can at least have 50 people. My original plan was to have only 50, including my wedding party!

Also hoping for 50!! I will be sending my invites after the governor makes an announcement when the last executive order ends on Jan. 31.

In the meantime, I found this petition to sign!!

Looks like VA is extending their orders for 10 person gathering limit until end of February. My wedding is March 27th, officially panicking Smiley sad. I think we may have to go through with whatever numbers we can have because we really don’t have much flexibility to push back..

Hey there ❤️ How many guests are on your invite list? The governor will update us again at the end of February, so that will give you four weeks notice for how many guests you can have. Maybe start pulling together guests lists for various limits (25, 50, etc)? Wishing you all the best of luck.

We invited 100 (sent our invites out pretty early), but I would be happy if we could have even 30 at this point. We do have our back up lists. It’s so hard, I even thought about postponing but we have pretty much no wiggle room, fiancé is in the military so our schedule is looking pretty hectic this year. Praying that we can at least have 30!

I will be praying for both of you and all of us Virginia brides! I don’t know what the limit will be but I really doubt it will stay at 10 as we enter spring.

I am a hopeful May 2021 bride. Our numbers are dropping so I am hopeful. I may just have the ceremony. My venue is fighting to have the same restrictions as a restaurant so I just wqanted to share this with you. I sent it to everyone in my bridal party and guest list. I encourage you to do the same whether or not you postponed or not. Remember gatherings are limited to 10 indoor OR OUTDOOR.

Help fight for your date! (I have the same date!)

I've sent this to everyone on my guestlist, vendors, and facebook and IG. Helping get the word out may or may not do something. But it makes us feel like we're doing something other than waiting.
