Virtual Wedding due to Covid?

Terri, on July 8, 2020 at 12:23 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 1

I am hoping to get married in Nov 2020 -- and Covid Wave 2 could be upon us. I haven't given up hope but reading through some of the questions and answers on this site, I am hoping for some addition guidance. My brother lives on the West Coast. I am in Chester County. PA. I am hoping for him to get ordained and perform the ceremony. The concern is that if there are travel restrictions he may not be able to get here. Does anyone know if Chester County will allow the ceremony via ZOOM or Skye.

Our other option is for us to do a self-uniting marriage - I think Chester County allows, but I am not for certain. If they do, has anyone done or know the process to go about ensuring its legal?

Hi Terri! I'd call the county clerk directly and ask about their policies on officiating weddings remotely!

Chester County does allow self-uniting marriages, but you will need to specifically apply for a self-uniting license (slightly different form than marriage license). Here are a few other forum discussions about self-uniting licenses that have helpful tips and ideas:
