"Virtual" wedding services (planners and livestreaming options)

Stevania, on March 4, 2021 at 5:28 PM Posted in Planning 1 9

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone is using virtual wedding planning services and also if anyone is livestreaming their wedding on Zoom/Facebook Live etc.
Wedding planners can be pretty pricey for a but has anyone looked into the mord economical option of "virtual"/online wedding planners to help you get/stay organized during your "DIY" planning or to help with specific issues?
Also, if keeping in-person wedding guest numbers down (because of Covid restrictions, destibation weddibg/elopement or because of budget), is anyone planning to add a live stream/"virtual wedding ". If so, did you look at things like Wedfuly, Event Live and LoveStream but find it too expensive? And, if so, would you have hired someone to help organize and run the online side if the wedding on the day if it were cheaper?
I'm just curious whether these are popular services or if the virtual wedding thing was just a phase during the worst part of the pandemic when everyone was locked down...

We live-streamed our wedding using Lovecast. It was great, I’d recommend to anyone during non-pandemic times

That looks like a good service. Did you use the interactive premium service so you could show slides/video to your guests or the free version?

If you used premium, does it allow your guests to speak to you (e.g. someone who has joined online giving a speech) or is it just one way communication from you to them?

We had our ceremony via zoom which we loved because a lot of our older guests couldn’t come and we didn’t want them to miss the day! It was also recorded so we were able to instantly see the ceremony and all the dances the next day.

Based on recommendations from so many people here, we will also be using Lovecast to stream our wedding. Budget is a pretty big concern for us, so this is a great option.

    Cool.
Will you be using the free option or the more interactive version?

Not doing live streaming. But never heard of virtual planning. Is that video calls instead of audio only with potential vendors or something else? Some people have enough anxiety with just an audio call.

Are you talking about hiring someone to plan your wedding for you? Many people choose not to because they don't get to pick what they want and the price tag is very high. Even day of coordinators for the majority of (DIY) weddings do not do this. Having that over video calls is not something most are interested in.

I think the area of virtual wedding planning is developing/evolving at the moment as a result of Covid; but, yesy, I am talking about services to help you get organised and plan your wedding remotely.

From what I have seen this is going in 2 ways:

1 - traditional wedding planners who can't work face to face because of Covid so they are doing their interaction with couples via remote means which could be a combination of video calls/normal phone calls and written via email/online portals. Covid-permitting, these planners would still come to your actual wedding to run the day. Of course with an independent wedding planner you get to choose the details and suppliers you want for your wedding. Normally it's if you are using the "wedding planner" (venue coordinator) that comes with your venue that you are restricted to using their suppliers (or even if they don't have an "onsite" wedding planner many venues restrict you to their preferred suppliers).

2 - "virtual wedding planners" who set up remote services that are cheaper than a traditional planner. This can be via access to checklists/workbooks/guidance videos etc that they sell as a package (sometimes generic or sometimes parts like the checklist and budget are customised to your specific wedding, with the generic guidance on things like how to interview potential vendors); and then some also offer 1:2:1 coaching sessions on the phone/video calls by the hour for more specific advice as and when you need it . It leaves you to do the majority of your planning yourself but with a bit of help with all the "wedmin" but not necessarily someone there with you on the day.

I was talking more about the second option of mostly doing it yourself but getting some guidance to help along the way without adding another 10-15% to your wedding budget.

We're opting for the free version. Budget is a pretty big factor for us and the free version includes all we'd want anyways.
