Virtual Wedding

Hello! I’m getting married 3/6/21 with about 30 family and friends. I also plan to have family and friends on Zoom. Please share any ideas on how to make zoom engaging not boring. What worked for you and what didn’t.

Thanks in advance

I'm not understading your question. This is for a wedding not a bridal shower, correct?

I recommend to us a laptop or tablet that is situated on a flat surface instead of someone holding a phone during your wedding.

My cousin got married last month and there were two pieces to how it worked. The ceremony was on a livestream, so everyone just watched that on their own. Then we logged onto the zoom for the “reception.” They had breakout rooms already determined based on who we normally would’ve sat with at tables, so that we could chat with people we knew. There were some activities/prompts we were given for the breakout rooms to help people get to know each other better (but our breakout room just chatted). They had asked someone in each breakout room to facilitate ahead of time. And then at the end they brought everyone back together to do a few toasts and say thanks. It worked really well!

No matter what you decide I would definitely do a test run before your ceremony! Try a zoom Rehearsal dinner party with close family before your big day! That way, you can figure out any technical issues before your vows. Also, depending on your budget, you can send your virtual guests a small gift box with a mini champagne bottle and macrons, cute snacks, and a personal letter. That way, everybody can toast together during your zoom!

You can also include fun photo booth props (that you would see at a regular wedding reception) inside of your gift boxes. You can have people hold them up and you can snap some screen shots to document your day in a fun way. You can find affordable props at the dollar store, Etsy, or Amazon. I think that would be a really fun way to document your day. You can also ask people what song they would like to hear and you can create a playlist that they can play or you can play for them. Have a great time!
