Not sure if this is considered exactly a virtual wedding, but due to covid we cut down our guest list to just 17 people instead of 150.
So we are live-streaming the ceremony to all the guests that couldn’t make it.
Pro:- you can invite so many more people since you don’t have capacity restrictions from a venue- it’s cheap, if not free. You can find some streaming options for free.- with certain streaming options, you can record it and watch the video later on, which is much cheaper than a videographer - it’s fast. You don’t have to do any extras like dances, multiple speeches, toasts. It can be done in 15min if you want to. - you can have it anywhere, whether your home or outside at park/beach.
Cons:- not being able to celebrate with all your friends and family. - people probably will have questions/won’t automatically understand why you’re doing it virtually (although if covid related it might be easier to get)

Went to one and Did not enjoy it. Several ppl were on zoom who did not know how to press the mute button so there was so much outside noise.

Depending on how you stream it, it could work. Never been to one so I have no opinion. I would miss having the contact with people.

I haven’t had or been to a virtual wedding. But, I’d definitely suggest muting everyone from your end. Background noise ruins any zoom event.

We attended one back in August.

On my end, thoroughly enjoyed it - I rolled out of bed, threw on something nice, watched DH's cousin get married, and went right back to bed! (They got married at some godforsaken early hour, aka before noon, and I don't do before noon, even without a pandemic.)

The only problem I had was that they were outside without mics, and so sometimes we couldn't hear. So, I'd look into making sure your sound is good.

Hi there! We hired a guy to stream our wedding last weekend since like you we had to cut down from 200 to 40. We paid about $850 and he live streamed it on YouTube on our own channel and even did Picture in Picture so one camera could be on the sign language interpreter. (My parents and several virtual guests are deaf). The quality was excellent. We didn’t have the muting problem that happens on Zoom. All people had to do was click on the link we shared on FB, email and text. It was definitely an unexpected expense, but we’ll worth it. And the best part is now it’s recorded and we can view it anytime. Good luck!!

Watched a wedding through YouTube Live last weekend. Had no problems, just one time someone stepped in front of the camera momentarily.

It really just depends how you live stream, and the person or persons in charge of the camera (s).
For myself, I’m just doing it quick and easy on zoom. I have someone helping me. It may not be the best view for those watching, but that’s ok to me.

Hi - how did the wedding go?

You mentioned that you planned to have someone helping you with the Zoom. Did you hire someone or did you have a friend help out?
