Vow renewal

Tanisha, on August 2, 2021 at 9:48 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 3
Hello, my husband and I got married with a small wedding that was because of budget. We had a total of 70 guest (20 of those guest were just my siblings and their significant others). We also had several things go wrong on that day and got hardly any of the pictures we wanted. To top all of this off his mother and siblings missed the wedding because of a hurricane in Florida. We have now been married 2 years and have decided we want a “second wedding”. I am aware that it is called a vow renewal but I would want all of the things as a wedding without the showers. Is there anything that would be absolutely inappropriate? I would still want mother son and father daughter because his mom missed the whole experience.

Some people, and some sites, will blabber on about how vow renewals aren't second weddings, don't treat it like a wedding, blahblahblahblah. I've even seen them go so far as to say don't wear a wedding dress.

    Nonsense.

Do whatever the absolute heck you want.

It's your money. Do what makes you happy. You're the one paying for it, and it's your memory.

If anyone has a problem with it, they are more than welcome to tick "decline" on the RSVP.

There's no right or wrong way to celebrate your vow renewal!! You can include as many wedding traditions as you'd like, and wedding ceremony vows are easily tweaked by vowing to "continue to love, honor..." Smiley ring
