Vows- traditional, write your own, or hybrid?

I’m just curious what people chose for their vows, and how they made the call. Did you want the traditional wording, write everything yourself, or some mix?


Our officiant convinced me to write our vows. He asked us what we thought the most important part of the ceremony was and I instantly said vows. He said since that’s what mattered to me and he knows I’m a writer, we should write our own.
The funny thing is we’d decided to do a hybrid — have the quick traditional “to have and to hold” bit, then our own. But the officiant dropped his paperwork at one point and had to shuffle quickly, and he completely missed the traditional ones. So Hubby and I tease each other about “I never actually vowed in sickness and in health” when the other is sick. 😆
