Vows?!

Lauren, on October 23, 2017 at 11:03 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

So....I get married in 12 days and just decided that I don't like our vows I had originally decided on haha. Apparently I enjoy making myself miserable lol anyways.......where can I find outlines or ideas for vows?? We want something that reflects us. Beach wedding, secular/earthy, high school sweethearts, and we have two children. We are clearly, non traditional and I want vows that showcase these things....any help or advice or websites?! lol TIA

If you want something prewritten, try searching pinterest.

My pastor advised to write down 10 things I love about my FH as a start up for my vow.

Pinterest. I have a whole board on mine named iVow full of ideas for my vows that I'll be pulling ideas from as well as adding our personal touch. I recommend adding a cute inside joke you two have that will make you giggle between tears.

I second QueSeraSera. I looked up my favorites on Pinterest and built my own based on that. My wedding is still a ways away, so I night change my mind.

Https://www.pinterest.com/Celiamilton/wedding-vows-and-readings/ There is actually a mad lib vow generator on there. And there are a lot of ideas on here from many different officiants

Keep them short. Eight to 10 lines.

Keep them simple but not generic.

Do not recount your entire relationship; ideally, your fabulous officiant will have told your story.

Keep in mind that when you get to the vows, your guests' attention span is wearing thin, no matter how they love you. They hear wine corks popping in the background.

Don't make them so emotional you can't say them out loud.

Don't memorize them; write them down.

Don't feel pressure to make them into great literature.

My officiant asked us to read "Jewish wedding now" the ketuba chapter has some language similar to vows. I also used brides .com to modify the script he uses for Jewish interfaith maragies

    The first sentences is:

"Today let's give _ and _ our hearts and joy as today, in the presence of their family and friends, they celebrate their choice of choosing each other as loving partners."

which I took from a kutuba
