Vows

Ciara, on October 11, 2020 at 5:46 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
I have my vows written and they’re kind of long. Would it be okay to have them written down and hold them while I say or should I memorize them?..

I had them printed on a regular piece of computer paper, and my husband had his on a sheet from a notepad. I've never seen a couple memorize their vows. They usually read them or repeat them if just doing the standard.

I'd rather read from a card than to memorize anything, no matter how short and sweet. The officiant can keep track of it for you up until then. Way too many nerves and excitement to retain it to memory, especially since very few people are used to or comfortable speaking in front of crowds.

I'll definitely be reading mine off paper. Even if I could memorize it, I feel like I'd forget once I actually have to say it because I'd be so nervous lol.

I would definitely have them written down because even if you memorize them you could easily forget them because of nerves.

We wrote ours down and read them. Even if you want to memorize them you may get nervous and forget them.

I was going to say the same keep them written with you as you may get nervous even if you have memorized them. People understand that.

My officiant actually typed ours and put them on notecards for us so we didn't have to remember/forget them!

Have them written down, or buy some nice vow books! Etsy has super cute designs that won't kill your wallet. If you're brave enough to memorize them, then more power to you, but I'm team 'written vows'. It takes stress off of you, and you won't be worried about forgetting anything.
