Waiting before the honeymoon?

I had some friends recommend waiting a week to go on the honeymoon for things to calm down. While logistically, it makes sense (time to breathe after the wedding, opening gifts, visit with out of town family, etc), I have a hard time imagining going to work for a week before taking off to the Caribbean... we already planned to wait until Monday to have Sunday as a "breather" day. What are your thoughts? I'd love your input!

We are going on our honeymoon the day after the wedding, just because I really like that tradition Smiley smile it's all personal preference and what works best for the two of you. You don't have to wait a week just because others suggest you do that.

We were EXHAUSTED for days after our wedding, we actually have a 3 month gap between our ceremony and honeymoon (yay revolving around teacher breaks). I highly recommend waiting a week so you aren’t trying to wrap up details for both things at the same time and so you can catch up on sleep and actually enjoy your honeymoon.

Same our wedding is Saturday and we’re leaving for our honeymoon Monday morning. After the wedding I want the newlywed high to keep going lol. I don’t want to go work right after my wedding, I still want to enjoy time wit my husband. Sunday can be your breathing time. Keep that newlywed high as long as you can!

We are getting married on a Saturday and would like to leave by that Sunday afternoon for a honeymoon trip. The tricky part is we already have a wedding the following Saturday so it can only be 5 days or so...we've considered pushing it out one week but I hate the idea of coming back to work for one week just to leave again!

We are crazy but we are waiting about 8 months after our wedding to go on our honeymoon. We live in Missouri and for our honeymoon we have decided to take a road trip to the west coast. So we are driving from Missouri to California and stopping at a few different popular cities on the way. We are doing this due to weather. With us living in the Midwest it can snow at any moment between September-March. So we said May or June to ensure the weather and road conditions are great. This is just us. Lol we like to wait things out.

Our wedding is on a Saturday and we are leaving on our honeymoon Sunday morning. We live 5 minutes from our venue so after the wedding we will head home change clothes and grab our bags for our trip. We are staying at a hotel at the airport so we can sleep in a bit more and not have to rush over. We arrive Sunday morning and will probably take a nap. After words open gifts and prepare for work on Monday.

We will be getting married Saturday and then leaving Monday morning. I also can't imagine a week in between, I don't think I'd get much done & it would be kind of weird! We figure a day in between will give us time to get everything back home, kind of unwind & finish any last minute packing before we head out!

We ended up having about a week in between by accident. An error in planning, a job change, a better deal, lots of small things adding up. We had Sunday and Monday off (holiday weekend) then worked Tuesday-Friday before leaving on Saturday. It actually worked very nicely. I didn't mind sharing a few wedding photos with coworkers (the interest died by the time we got back, which was fine by me), making a little money, and sorting out tax forms, etc. Since we took a little time off before the wedding, it was helpful not to be gone from our jobs for too long and have added stress at the end.

In the end, I don't think it really matters and it can come down to price and convenience.

We are waiting a few months to take our honeymoon, because of certain family obligations. However, if we had the option, we'd definitely do exactly like you are planning to do. I think you are making the right choice by waiting one day then going vs waiting a week then going. Personally, I would be useless at work for that week, lol, day dreaming of my honeymoon.

My fiancé and I plan to wait at least two weeks before going on our honeymoon. I do prefer the “breather” concept.

If you have a job that allows you to take two weeks off for a honeymoon, I can understand waiting a few days or a week for things to die down. If you are like me, I’m getting married in a Saturday. I saved enough vacation days to take the Thursday and Friday off before and the entire week off after . We are leaving on Monday and coming back on Saturday from our honeymoon. We will have Sunday as a day to relax before we go back to work. Your honeymoon is for you to relax .

I get waiting but like you said I wouldn't want to back to work basically right after the wedding. We're getting married on a Friday and leaving sunday morning for our honeymoon so we'll spend Saturday with our kiddos and out of town guests

So we decided to wait for a bit because we'd both started new jobs while wedding planning. By the time the honeymoon came a month and a half later we were both coming down from the wedding high and were just exhausted. I was actually put on xanax to lower my post wedding anxiety. He got his first bad cold in like two years. We realized we shouldn't have waited and should have just gone on our honeymoon right away. I think for us, we would have preferred to jump on a plan post wedding and go somewhere and celebrate us. It really depends on you and your FH, but I highly recommend going on your honeymoon a day or two after the wedding.

We didn’t want to go back to work between the wedding and honeymoon and are working with limited vacation time, so we’re getting married on a Sunday and leaving on Tuesday

You should do whatever works best for you. My brother and sister in law waited until after their March wedding to start planning their honeymoon. She was in a grad-school program, so they decided to go somewhere during winter break. My fiance and I haven't even started planning our honeymoon yet.

We're getting married on a Saturday and leaving either Sunday evening or Monday morning. This is mainly because I'm a teacher and if we waited a week, we wouldn't have enough time to take a nice long honeymoon like we want. Smiley smile
