Waiting Music?

Kristina, on May 17, 2018 at 8:35 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 15

So I'm sitting at work this morning and I have Spotify open and I always look for new music.

I found a playlist called "Piano In The Background" and I can just imagine music like this playing while guests are filtering in for the ceremony and then the cocktail hour!

Has anyone thought about this? I've always loved the idea of just having soft, gentle music that isn't distracting but very pleasant so people feel comfortable while they're with us!

I want soft Jazz mixed with traditional Indian music during dinner, so I thought this would be perfect for before!

We booked our DJ for enough time that they will be playing music as guests are seated for the ceremony, and during cocktail hour. He has specific playlist options we can request to use for those hours on the online form we fill out. Some of the options where - Instrumental/Piano, Instrumental/Guitar etc and then styles like Jazz standards, modern music ETC.

Piano in the Background is a nice channel! I also frequently listen to jazz on Spotify while I am working. If you have a subscription without commercial interruption, allowing playlist music to stream as guests begin seating for the ceremony and during cocktail hour sounds like a useful idea!

I do have a DJ who will be there for the ceremony, but I don't think I've been given a list of stuff to choose from, but if it's similar I'm thinking the piano instrumental music!

I've always loved how soft and relaxing it is!

I have a DJ, so I'm hoping I can just show him this playlist to give him an idea!

Well will have soft jazz playing as people enter the ceremony, but fromthere things will turn a bit obnoxious. Lol. Becasue our wedding is going to be in Los Cabos, Mexico, we will have a mariachi band playing during the cocktail hour and a DJ during the reception. We love to dance! Lol.

Absolutely a great idea!! most DJ's will do this anyway. Mine played instrumental version of very popular songs that I got to listen to in the raw video footage of our wedding. I think it's much nicer to have than people just sitting there in silence besides a few people talking.

That sounds AWESOME! What a neat thing to do at a wedding, especially since it's destination!

We'll have traditional dance music during the reception and Indian Garba music cause that's FH's dad's FAVORITE thing to do! I just like softer music for before the ceremony begins!

I'm using Spotify for our music. We have created a "Pre-Ceremony" playlist to begin 30 minutes before ceremony. All the songs on it are instrumental songs.

Exactly my point! It creates a very pleasant atmosphere. I've always loved music playing before weddings, plays, etc.

One of my favorite things about my venue is that it came with 30 minutes of real piano playing pre-ceremony while guests were coming in. During cocktail hour they played popular songs done on the piano. It was perfect!

Yes! I have a good friend who is also my old piano teacher and she is playing the piano while all my guests arrive. One of my favorite things about my venue is they have a gorgeous baby grand piano!!

That's what I'm doing. I love the idea of soft relaxing music before the party really gets started.

My venue has one as well tucked into the corner, but I don't know anyone who plays it well enough for them to play before the ceremony Smiley sad

I've been toying with the idea of having a Harry Potter soundtrack going as people filter in and for cocktail hour, and some Dave Matthews for dinner! Easy jazz is always good background music, too. Just something to make the area more inviting.
