WALK DOWN ORDER LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE

hhoneymoon2003, on May 16, 2009 at 8:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

I have several family elders members who are walking down the aisle in my weddn ceremony, but I am a little confused on what sides should the woman stand on and what side should the man be on when the two of them are walking down the church aisle to be seated by their partner

Congrats on your up and coming really soon wedding Smiley smile On walking them down the aisle...it really depends on what side they are sitting. Example if they are sitting on the right..then the man should be on the left and if they are sitting on the left, well then the Man should be on the right. This way they can easily be seated.

Or you can go with the "traditional" way and that is Man on left and female on right

    Good luck to you

The women are ALWAYS on the left side of the man...it dates back to ancient times when the man needed to keep his right (sword hand) free to defend his bride! Funny but true!

    Hope that helps!

It doesn't matter which side they will be sitting on, women walk on the left. This is true in every case except in Jewish weddings where the bride and groom sides are reversed. However, since you said it would be in a church, I assume it will be a Christian wedding - women on the left.

As already well stated, it doesn't matter which side one is seated. Traditionally, the woman is always on the left arm of the male escort/usher. Since the question mentions a "church," the above is correct and as Heather B. rightly points out, were this a Jewish Wedding (i.e., which it apparently is not), the bride's and groom's sides would be reversed.

Just another vote for the woman to be on the escorts left arm.
