Walking Down Aisle Song - Are you using one with singing?

Lisa, on November 20, 2020 at 7:49 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14

Hi guys, I'm holding a super small wedding (7 people in person + Zoom) next weekend, eek!!

I'm trying to decide on a song to walk down the aisle to. I'm thinking about using the wedding version of a country song - what I'm wondering is - do most people use wedding versions where there is singing? Or did you choose one that is instrumental only?

I am walking down to an instrumental. I love how delicate they can sound. However it really depends on the song, if the lyrics are the reason you chose it I would stick with singing so it's extra special when you come out

I walked down to god gave me you (cover) by Caleb and Kelsey. So there was singing.

I used the versions with vocals, but you need to do what makes you and your FS happy - not what everyone else does

I’m between Songbird by Fleetwood Mac or Can’t Help Falling in Love but the Kona Grannis version which is newer and more modern.

Love it! Are you thinking instrumental or the ones with singing?

I'm not walking down an aisle at all but I would prefer a song without lyrics.

Most use instrumental, which I far prefer.

I'm walking to "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman. It's perfect for us.

My FH is walking down to an acoustic version of Metallica- nothing else matters with not vocals which he prefers but I’m walking down to Aha- Take on me MTVs unplugged version with vocals. The lyrics and his voice gave me goosebumps when I heard it so I want the vocals but you should do whatever you feel is the perfect song. Vocals or not.

I'm using a song with lyrics. It's definitely common. It just boils down to personal preference.

We did an instrumental version of Tale as Old as Time (and had a violinist and cellist). I personally think lyrics can be a bit distracting for ceremony music.

Update: I ended up using the wedding version of "Yours" by Russell Dickerson. Thanks to everyone here for making me more confident in the decision!
