Walmart cake and when to order?

Alondra, on August 3, 2011 at 11:52 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

The title says it all.

Comments/opinions/rants/anything about the cakes from walmart will be useful to me. Especially the prices Smiley smile Also, how soon is too soon to order? My date is on February 11, 2012.

At one of our work functions, they had a cake from WalMart. It was really, really good actually! They did spell "success" wrong though ["sucess"], but who's to say it wasn't our manager who wrote it down wrong too haha. I haven't a clue about prices or timing though, sorry :/.

I have no idea, but i'd say give your local walmart a call and ask these questions.

We used Walmart Cakes for one of our office christmas lunch years back (the bakery we had anticipated on using ended up closing) The cake was absolutely wonderful - so rich and moist. We took it out of the packaging and placed it on one of the tables everyone kept asking how we got the cake from the bakery since it was no longer in business... no one would've guessed it was from Wally World!

For ordering I think it really depends on the time of year & your location. You'll have to go in and talk to the people that work there - they'll be able to tell you exactly when they need the order by. If I remember correctly I think we ordered it 2 weeks in advance.

Thank you guys, as long as everyone is liking the taste I think buying from Wal mart is a good idea. I know it's not as expensive as other places I have checked out. I'm so excited. I might just go talk to them this weeken if the love bug and I finish up the wedding registry early. So excited!

We were originally thinking Walmart for our wedding cake. I have 2 cousins who have used them, and they tasted very good. We ultimately decided against it for 2 reasons:

    1) You cannot stack them one on top of another, they have to have those plastic 1980s pillars between the tiers, and

    2) They don't deliver or set up. You have to pick it up from Walmart the day of and then follow the assembly instructions they give you for stacking them on the pillar things yourself.

If neither of those things are deal breakers for you, then it is a good option, way cheaper than anything else we came across, and they taste pretty darn good Smiley smile

I love the way cakes from Wal-Mart taste. I've never had a bad tasting one. I would go in and talk to the bakers.

    That is very pretty, Karlyn!

We order cakes all the time from Sam's Club for my office and everyone raves. I have entertained the idea of using them -- and we may, still. I've got to see what the budget looks like once I get everything else figured out.

I'm pretty sure I've seen stacked cakes in Sam's cake book. Even if you don't have a membership, it'd be worth the cost for the cake alone. Or maybe someone you know has a membership that you could use.
