Was anyone NOT a nervous wreck on their wedding day?

KrystalH, on November 26, 2012 at 11:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

Thinking back to my wedding day I can't believe how incredibly calm I was all day long. I really don't like being the center of attention so I thought that walking down the aisle would make me so nervous. But I was so calm. I didn't get nervous getting ready, nor was I nervous in the limo to the church. I didn't shed 1 tear because I was just smiling and laughing through the whole day. I was also super calm when the zipper to my BM(sister) dress broke and I had to pull it apart so she could get out of it (she just put another dress on and away we went)

Was there anyone else that was weirdly cool, calm and collected throughout their entire wedding day?

I was a pretty calm bride all around-- as long as we were married at the end of the day, I was ready to call it a 'good wedding', but I agree-- once the wheels started turning and all the decisions were made, it was a real sense of 'here we go-- no use worrying now!' I'm glad you were able to roll with your BMs dress had a catastrophically failed!

Both of us were euphoric. There were a lot of little things that went wrong, including having to stop the ceremony partway through to ask if someone had an archival pen (because we mislaid the one we intended to use to sign the ketubah) and some of the guests having a whipped cream fight at the reception. But it was such a long time before we could get married at all, we just didn't care about the little details.

You totally described my day. Those around me were worried because I was wayyy too calm. I just made up my mind that day, that I wouldn't freak out about anything I couldn't change. I was surprised that I didnt even cry and when I look back over my pics, I have the BIGGEST smile in all of them. It must be the date, twin!lol

I will definitely be a nervous wreck that day, and i just really hope that the moment of reality hits before that day, and that i dont have a panic attack. I was prone to those in high school, others described it as "you were just standing there, then your face turned blue and you passed out." i visited the hospital many times over it, and i hope im over them now

I was pretty calm most of the day, up until the point where my dad and I were standing at the back of the church about ready to walk down the aisle. This is where I started to get nervous and emotional, I just had to remind myself "just breathe".

I totally kept expecting myself to get nervous because my sister totally freaked out the night before her wedding, and the day of. But I was seriously calm, she kept saying to me how are you so calm. I was just happy and I don't know I think it's just personality I'm not the type of person who thinks about all the things that could go wrong I'm very much in the moment, so I was just happy eating my cucumber sandwiches and watching whatever was on tv and chilling with my girls. I didn't really get nervous until I put on my dress and then I did feel nervous until the walk down the aisle was over, after that, as soon as I grabbed Hubby's hand I was back to calm and at peace haha. It was a great feeling and I'm happy I was like that. I don't think it's the norm though Smiley smile

My fav pic of getting ready describes the mood so well

Turned out that my FH was a melting pile of nerves that day... like hands shaking so hard he couldn't button up his shirt! When I saw him for the First Look photos, he was visibly shaking like a leaf.

So... I thought I would be a weepy mess, but seeing him in such a state really made me pull myself together. I didn't tear up until after the ceremony when we were signing the marriage license. And while I never felt too nervous that day, I know that some part of me felt like I needed to be "strong" for hubby, which I think kept me away from the edge of my own emotions.

We have some pics of me walking down the aisle, and I have such a loving but strong look in my eye, and I know I was looking at nervous hubby as I approached him, and just trying to convey, "It's OK, it's just you and me, and we got this."

After the ceremony he calmed down significantly, and we had a ball. Though his bangs are pretty screwed up in a lot of our pictures because of nervous forehead sweat!! Smiley tongue
