Mostly weather. I wanted at least the ceremony outside. June is too hot, July is even hotter, and August is monsoon season. September was still pushing the heat and weather button, so October it was. Might I add, we only eliminated the hot months in consideration for our mothers, who both asked not to be sweating (I'm always cold!). Early October still has warm days and cool nights. Once we chose October, we knew it would be a Saturday, and the 1st just "felt" right. Plus it's easy to remember. There's still a chance for a freak storm, which is less likely later in October, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there Smiley smile

We had issues with every other week and month of the year...so Jan. 5 is what we ended up with. We are in school year round so winter is our only break! Also Couldn't do it in December because of the holidays. Also FH one request is for it to be cool. So that is what worked out best for us!

Fall is our favorite season so I chose October as the month and he was cool with it. We love the changing colors of the leaves and the weather is not to hot and not to cold. :-)

No not really, I was just working around two things: (1) My period, and (2) I didn't want to have it when school was in so that ruled out every month but July because i have some family who are up north so their kids don't get out till June while our kids here in the south get out in May but go back in August.

*I* originally wanted a Halloween wedding but FH and my mom said no. =( We both wanted a fall wedding, as it's both of our favorite season. We wanted Oct 20th, but our venue doesn't do events that weekend because it's the "high season" for fall foliage. We decided to go the weekend before rather than after because we thought we'd rather have some green with some leaf color, as opposed to possibly all brown. The 13th was a fun bonus, and FH said "well you didn't get Halloween, but it's 31st reversed! lol.

We chose October when we were going to have it here in DC, and when we switched to a DW, we decided to avoid hurricanes via geography instead of the calendar. However, our post-DW celebration at home will be exactly one year from our engagement. Not planned that way, but it was a choice of that Sunday or the one before, so we thought it'd be nice.

No significance for us but man was it hard! We didn't want it on a holiday weekend and during that time is birthday galore for us (FH and 4 other family members have birthdays in late sept). we also knew that we wanted it during the fall season. Our venue had this date open and we took it!

We originally got together at the beginning of January and thought about having a winter wedding but decided against it.

Well it's the biggest party night of the year, thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, everyone has off the next day, it's unique and memorable and reason #1 we saved A BUTT LOAD OF MONEY!! Lol. We saved a ton on our limo, venue and other vendors as well. If we did it the way we r doing it on a sat or even a Friday or Sunday we wouldn't be able to afford it. Not to mention, we will have the run of the house at the venue.

I originally picked October 6th for a nice fall wedding but my Mom's birthday is Sept. 3rd and she and my father's anniversary is also Sept. 3rd and she actually ASKED my FH and I to get married on that date so we'd have the same wedding anniversary. I was happy to comply. 3 weeks!!!

We got engaged at teh end of June 2010, and didn't want to be engaged for too long because, frankly, other people's long engagements exhaust me. And I didn't even want to THINK about doing that to myself. We selected March because it rarely snows in DC in March, and April you've got Cherry Blossoms, and May onwards is tourist season...and we didn't want our guests to have to scurry for hotel rooms.

I went to UNC-Chapel Hill, so we chose early March to get out of the way of March Madness. But...I goofed. That night wound up being the Carolina-Duke game, which meant my college buddies were freaking out and compulsively checking the score all through the reception. (We won...I knew my team wouldn't let me down on my wedding day!)

Our wedding date will be my mom & dad's 45th wedding anniversary, so I thought that would be special.

10/1/11 While it looks like we picked it for the actual number, we didn't. We asked the owner of our inn what is the best Saturday for foliage. October 8th is the anniversary of my sistera nd best friends death, so that was out of the question. The 15th would have been too late.

We picked out our date because it would have been my mom and step dads 18th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately neither one is with us anymore. I lost my mom in 2006 and my stepdad last year. So this date has alot of special meaning to it for me.
