Was your day of coordinator worth it?

Tell me? I can’t decide if I want one or not.

I haven't had my wedding yet, but I can already tell that my DOC is going to be worth it. You really don't think about all the things that need to be coordinated the day of the wedding until you research it. I want to be as hands off as possible on my wedding day (which is hard for me because I like to feel in control of the things around me), so I found a DOC that made me feel comfortable that she can take care of everything without me having to worry about anything other than enjoying my wedding day.

Having one isn't 100% necessary, but it's definitely something I'd look into if you have it in your budget.

Ours set up almost all our decor, checked in with all our vendors & directed them, collected presents & cards at the end of the night, and cleaned up everything. We could NOT have had our wedding with her!

My DOC was literally a life saver. I didn’t lift a finger on my wedding day and neither did my family or wedding party. It wouldn’t have been possible without my DOC and her assistants.

If your venue doesn’t provide one, absolutely! Our venue gave us two DOCs and a wedding is a disorganized mess without one. Vendor management, guest management, timeline management, chasing solutions when there’s a problem (missing cake, broken light, etc). A wedding planner is optional. A DIC is a must-have.

Absolutely. Ask yourself: do you want a relatively stress-free wedding where you don't have to worry about setting up, cleaning up and dealing with all the different vendors and the potential problems that could arise? If so, definitely hire a DOC. Worth every penny.

I'm apparently in the minority on this topic. It is not an important budget item for us to spend the amount that the ones around here charge. We have enough friends and family who have volunteered to help us on the day of. It's not "working at the wedding" in their opinions...it's doing what needs to be done for family and close friends. That's what my family and friends do for each other. We have our venue for the entire weekend Friday-Sunday, so decorating will be done by us on Friday evening and tear down will happen Sunday afternoon. I have been in and to enough weddings in the last few years that haven't had a DOC and have been great. Just because you don't have one doesn't mean your wedding will be a disorganized mess. I may think different about it if we had a bazillion vendors to be dealing with or having an extremely formal event...however we are just not those people...Ultimately the choice is yours. Good luck!
