Was your proposal a surprise? Or did you see it coming?? 💍

He told all of our friends and family which did keep it secret as much as possible (not my family thou) and kept insisting that our vacation had to be perfect and that it was super important. Also a week before the proposal we went out with our friends and he kept telling the guys that they had to be on his bachelor party then panicked and say "whenever in the long future that would be" which was pretty hilarious. but I still acted like I knew nothing and was super nervous when it happened

We had talked about getting married but there was no time frame. So I was totally surprised!!

We had discussed it before hand, I just didn't know when he was going to do it!

I love reading these stories. My best friend watched my kids for the 4th of July and due to covid, all the restaurants were closed. so we had Mexican dinner with his family and then we took a drive in his jeep to a field filled with flowers to watch the local high school do their traditional firework display, he ran out of ideas and was winging it, I love taking pictures so once we got out of the jeep I was taking pictures and he took the ring out of his pocket and I turned around to see a beautiful ring I said yes and gave him a huge hug and then asked him to get on one knee and ask me again he did and I said yes. I am engaged to my better half cant wait to marry him

A bit of both. We kind of did things backwards.. We set a date and then I picked out my ring..The only thing I had to wait for was the delivery. I told him that it wasn't necessary for him to do anything extravagant. It wasn't like I was going to say no. lol But he insisted that he still wanted to do something special for me. I didn't know the when, where, how, etc. So even though I knew it was coming he still managed to catch me off guard and surprise me!

We were both surprised. Still not sure who “proposed” to who. He made some snarky comments while I was doing my taxes about how he could have gotten a better tax refund had we been married. Then another comment about him wanting to see how much cheaper my health insurance would be for him (he was 100% kidding, I promise; it’s been a long-running joke since I work for the government). That started a conversation that ended with me asking, “So, are we engaged now?” And his response was, “Yeah, sure. Why not?” In his defense, he’s a mechanical engineer. Romance is not exactly his strong suit. But I still adore him and am super excited for our wedding!

Not surprised as we’d discussed it happening for awhile. I was surprised that he had my family and friends there and planned an engagement party at the same time. That was really nice! And felt special especially since it was the day after thanksgiving ☺️

I kept asking for a new work ring because my old one turned my finger green. He said “you are not getting a bath bomb ring for Christmas quit asking”. Come to find out it was because we was proposing. So a few days before Christmas I went and bought my own work ring. Lol he was so pissed but I didn’t understand why he would be pissed until after he proposed lol. We made my family mad because he didn’t tell anyone in my family he was proposing minus my dad who had passed in June of 2019. I got engaged in December 2019.

I was not surprised at all because we decided together 🙂 no proposal for us.

It was a total surprise! Despite us being together for a while, I did not know it was coming the weekend it did! We had booked a trip to Asheville for our 3 year anniversary weekend. We didn't have much planned for the trip but we did plan a day at The Biltmore, since we had been to Asheville a lot but never to The Biltmore. The morning of, he acted normal, we toured the house and the gardens and we were done a little early before our wine tasting and he said, "Let's go take some pictures up on the hill". We started walking up the hill and I noticed some photographers, but thats not uncommon for The Biltmore. Then he had us face the house and started getting nervous and then I knew and immediately started crying! So magical! Best day ever!!

I had a hunch that it was going to happen the weekend it happened but I was off on the actual day. I thought it was going to happen Sunday because he bought tickets to a garden and I kind of felt like that was a good place to propose stereo typically. And it was kind of random that he just bought these tickets. What actually happened was he proposed Friday night completely out of nowhere

It was a 100% surprise engagement during a trip to Hawaii. FH told my parents his plans to propose but I had NO idea because we hadn’t ring shopped or anything. But shockingly, FH picked a ring that was very similar to what I had in mind. 1/11/19 was the absolute best surprise day ever!!

My Fiancee' proposed to me at my Birthday Brunch in Las Vegas the day following his brother's wedding. I later learned that he had agreed with his brother and his new wife to propose to me at their wedding reception, but decided not to. it was a small group of us including one of my best friends (maid of honor) and his best friend (best man) and a couple other people who decided to attend brunch with us to celebrate my birthday. I was completely caught off guard and surprised. My son, and a few other family members were aware that he had planned to propose and they all kept it secret. It had been exactly 8 years since making the decision to date exclusively.

Complete surprise for me. We planned a week getaway in a remote cabin in the woods for just the two of us and our 7-month old husky pup. We went hiking one afternoon and when we reached the peak, he asked to take a photo of me looking out over the peak (so my back would be turned to him). I heard my camera snapping away, which is sweet because he was able to capture the moment right before he asked. He then said, "okay, turn around" and I found him down on one knee asking for me to be his wife. I almost fell off the mountain with excitement! We joke that he had a lot of trust in me at that edge and holding our crazy pup's leash too. It was a very sweet and intimate moment of just the (three) of us and I will cherish it forever!

Oh, and I figured that I will add that he snuck one of my rings out of my jewelry box to get the perfect ring size and decided to hide the ring in the trunk of his car for a month! All worth it in the end, lol!

It was a surprise! We had been talking about being engaged and he kept telling me that he wanted to marry me soon. We were tight on money and we had a sad conversation about him not being able to buy a ring and waiting a little longer to be engaged. I was sad but okay with it. Little did I know that he already had the ring. A month passed and my birthday was coming up and I asked him if he would be able to plan something because I was stressing out. He planed a whole day to go to a botanical garden, then to eat and walk around some other places with friends. It was an amazing day, and I was the only one that thought we were celebrating my birthday. At the end of the day they all decided to walk around some more. My fiancé and I started walking in front of everyone, I was looking around admiring the view and for a second I thought "It would be nice if he proposed here" but then I remembered that it wouldn't happen any time soon. Then we went up on a bridge and he turned me around and started talking to me and I noticed all my friends had stopped far away from us and were all looking and recording. So I knew and just started crying. He proposed and It was the most amazing birthday present ever!

I knew he was going to propose only because I saw ring pictures on his phone (whoops). Had no idea when he was planning on doing it though! He shocked me on a random Thursday night. I just came home from work and it took me over an hour to find the ring on my cats collar. Nothing was photographed that night. He was in his pj’s and we celebrated just us. It was perfect.

I knew it was coming because I got to pick out my ring but I didn't know when or where. It ended up being a couple months later. He kept nagging at me all day that we should go on Splash Mountain and it was cold so I really didn't want to go on and I decided fine that will be our last ride of the night. I almost died of Hypothermia on the walk back to the hotel room but it was so worth it.

Surprised! We've been dating for 10 months and we would always talked about getting married from the start. i knew he was looking for an engagement ring but told me he didnt find anything he liked. so a couple months passed and he told me that we should go on a date because we hadnt gone on one in months due to Covid. So he told me that we should dress nice for the occasion and so i was extremely excited and loved the idea. on November 27, 2020 we got ready for our date. We headed over to South Padre Island and said we would eat in this restaurant that his sister recommended. when we got there, hes like ima have to blind fold you and i asked why? he said remember i told you my sisters friend has a boat? well we are eating there but i want you to be surpised. so he put on the blind fold and we walked on a dock. by this time i felt his hand slip away and i felt someone elses hand holding mine. i noticed it right away and said "this is not your hand" and he said "yes it is". When we finished walking to our destination, i heard a Mariachi band playing and someone took off my blind fold, i was so confused and looked at the big bright letters spelled MARRY ME. i looked around and saw all our family there. We walked towards each other and he kneeled down and asked me to marry him. by that time we were both crying and then thats when i said yes.

My proposal totally was a surprise! My fiancé and I were going to Vegas for our 3rd year anniversary (2/14) and we had been talking of marriage, but I had no idea that he meant proposing soon! Since we had been discussing marriage I told him it would be fun to look at a few Vegas wedding venues to check it out.
That evening we had dinner at Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen and he was telling me how much he loved me and that he wants to spend our lives together. I still had no idea where he was going with this and so I told him I felt the same way. I looked up and he had the box in his hands and he asked me to marry him I was shocked!!!! He always said he would never propose on a holiday (it was 2/13) and my friends had been telling me what if he proposed. I told them I don’t see that happening at all right now. Little did I know!

Far more than a hunch, as I asked him. 😂
I'd been thinking about it for a few months by the time I actually asked though. I was thinking about it before we'd had our first visit. I'd thought about asking on the visit, but I didn't plan anything. Then when I was home for a week, I just went for it. I knew I'd take him by surprise, and you can't put him on the spot. 😂
I told him to take some time to think about it, and that I didn't want to get married ASAP. I told him that I'd been thinking about it for a long time, and I wanted to be clear about how I felt and my commitment to him. He took the weekend to consider my proposal and said yes. He said that "I love you very much and I don't see it any different." and included a music video by Black Label Society (A Love Unreal), which is his favourite band. We are both audiophiles, so I will walk down the aisle to that track. It has a gentle acoustic guitar intro that I will utilise for that very purpose. 😍
