I know it’s been asked before. I have oily wavy/straight long hair and typically wash it once a day (I know it sounds bad but every person I’ve ever had work with my hair has said it is healthy and that me doing that isn’t hurting it). I know it’s been asked before. I have oily wavy/straight long hair and typically wash it once a day (I know it sounds bad but every person I’ve ever had work with my hair has said it is healthy and that me doing that isn’t hurting it). I take pride in my hair and treat it well. My stylist told me not to wash it the day of, but I’m afraid it will be too oily by the end of the night if I don’t wash it the morning of the wedding. The wedding isn’t until 6pm, and I’ll probably be waking up at 9am. Getting my hair styled around 1:30-2pm or so. What should I do? I’m leaning more towards washing it the morning of, especially since when I wake up it typically is a mess since I toss and turn a lot. I’m conflicted though.

I have the same kind of hair, a few months ago I just bit the bullet and bought high quality dry shampoo and started skipping. Now I can easily do it every other day.

Also if you put dry shampoo in before you go to bed in the beginning it also helps soak up the oil that comes during the night.

I only wash my hair every 3-4 days and I took a long hot bath the morning of and let my hair air dry (my hair and makeup didn't start till 1:30pm) it worked out well for me but my stylist also didn't specify that I shouldn't wash it. Have you reached out to her to see why she doesn't want to? did you explain your hair type?

If this stylist is familiar with you and your hair definitely go with what your hairstylist recommends! If needed, they can wash it, if not needed they can just put texture spray or dry shampoo in it to help hold your style.

I like the idea of taking a bath morning of! I am definitely a bath girl! I think this sounds relaxing! I might do this, since I am staying in our home the night-of and my bridal party is coming over that morning!

Uhg! It was so nice. We rented a large cabin for us and the wedding party for 3 days before and 4 days after the wedding and my hubby and I had the main floor which happened to be the master suite with a Jacuzzi tub. our HMUA showed up at 830 am so by 7am I was in the tub relaxing before my day started. Definitely best way to start my wedding day!

I would wash it the morning of if that’s what your hair is used to. For people with dryer hair, second-day hair typically holds a curl better because it’s had a chance to accumulate a little oil. If your hair is naturally oilier, that isn’t something you have to worry about.

If you wash daily, still wash it. Most hairdressers say to skip it that day, but honestly, I hate the way my hair looks the day after I wash it. Wash and dry it. If she needs more hold and less slip, there are things she can use, like thickening spray or dry shampoo or even just hair spray.

Have you had your hair trial yet? Why don’t you try doing it as she says, wake up at 9am don’t wash your hair, get it done at 2pm then see how it lasts all afternoon and evening. If it doesn’t work you can always have a second trial washing it first.
Personally my hair is so fine it will barely hold a curl dirty so I know I won’t be washing it the morning of, but it is a tough call because there will be all that product in it from the rehearsal dinner before. Good question! Now i need to think about it too!

I've always been told that hair that's a little "dirtier" styles better - especially with braiding!

I have oily hair so I'll be showering the night before so that by the time my hair is getting done it'll have had a chance to gain back some of it's natural oiliness Smiley smile

I have the same issue with my hair, but i am definitely washing my hair in the morning of my wedding (it's not bad to wash your hair everyday if your hair needs it ).

I washed mine the night before and put my hair in curlers before bed. I had been working to move everything into the venue so I needed a shower so bad but it made my hair harder to work the way I originally wanted it. My curls held but the braid we were attempting just fell apart. It really depends on your hair.

I have oily hair too, but I dont wash my hair everyday and as a cosmologist I will say that washing your hair oily or not is NOT good for your hair. I have learned that over time. I was a wash my hair every other day for a long time. I now only wash my hair like every 3-4 days, its SO much more healthier and not as oily anymore. I dont use dry shampoo either cause that makes it worse (to me). I love my hair too and take pride in it as well. I will say thought try not to wash your hair everyday. I would say that if can try not to wash your hair the morning of it would be best, a little dirty helps the hair HOLD better. Good luck.
