Washer and dryer

Rya, on November 29, 2017 at 1:22 PM Posted in Registry 0 23

I'm thinking of adding this to a registry that I don't give out to anyone just to get the completion percentage . Is that cheating? I don't really want to ask anyone for either that'd be too much.

    Completion percentage?

I'd be curious as to why it was on a registry, as could some guests. Most guests may think you’re serious...even though it could be obvious you’re not.

    ETA; clarification

His beauty. A completion percentage is what say Macy gives you off the item if a person doesn't buy it for you. Say 10%. What I'm saying is. Put it on say a Sears wedding registry but don't tell anyone I'm registered with Sears.

Do it! Why not? Even if you did share your registry with people, what's the worst that would happen, someone actually buys it for you? I registered for a coffee table that probably costs as much as a mid-range washing machine in hopes a few cousins or friends go in on it together if they are looking for a gift idea.

Do you need a washer and dryer?

Tina, In hopes that guests get together to buy a $300-500 table?

^^ I don't think you understand the question. She IS NOT giving registry info out, she just wants the discount at the end. Which I think is fine.

And there is nothing wrong with a group of people going in together to get a nice table for a gift...

I need a new dryer. Mine cuts off and tells me check vent when nothing in the vent. So if I get a new dryer will need a washer to match it . Lol. But there is only 80 people on the list and there so many other things I need more

OP, I say go ahead and put it on your registry. I put 1-2 things on mine that I don't really expect anyone to get me, but I am def going to get myself with the discount afterwards. I think many people do this.

@hisbea I don't think I was being rude. I was trying not to 'side eye the hell' out of your post and offer clarification...

Yeah gurl, get your washer now with the holiday sales! But I don't see an issue listing that. At least it is something useful. I've seen people list $1000 China, which to me is crazy.

Even if you don't give the registry information to anyone, someone who goes searching on their own may find it, so if you're worried about people thinking you are seriously asking for it, that could be an issue.

I agree with @Olivia - see what the completion percentage is - because you should be able to beat that discount at a sale between now and April or at Memorial Day

@Becky if she keeps the registry private, no one can find it.

I think you are better off buying it when there is a sale going on!

A lot of registries are searchable through Google. If someone just searches for your names and "registry," it may come up. I would not put large appliances like a washer and dryer on any registry.

Registry completion discounts are usually 10-20%. I've gotten better discounts on items that were on our registries since the wedding by choosing to forego the registry discount and take the discount offered to everyone on a given holiday weekend.

That's the only reason I made a baby registry...for the completion discount.

Olivia. It's called being broke and the wedding registry completion is 6 months plus it's on top of sale prices. ,isn't it? Oh well , was just an idea. I'll forgo it. Always can ask my parents next year for Christmas. Lol

Now that my dryer's broken right after Black Friday, I wish I had!

Interesting my comment was flagged, why was that?

Laura, some home appliance stores won't allow you to double up on sales/discounts.

His beauty, I think because you told her she was being harsh, that's all I can think.

ETA: I like that idea, Mrs. Fall Bride.

I was trying to edit it, because I acknowledge it could have been construed as a bit rude, but I haven’t been able to get the site to work in over an hour.

Didn’t realize it was something to be flagged over.. I was merely stating I was asking questions because I had never heard of a completion percentage. I haven’t registered yet, so i didn’t know what it was, hence me asking what a completion percentage was. Guess asking questions gets flagged now. Smiley sad

I was also trying to tell OP our washer does the same thing, that it’s about 6 years old at least. . However my family has this weird thing of not replacing anything till it’s completely not working.
