Washing your hands...

Cydney J (Cydney M), on September 29, 2011 at 3:25 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 26

Do you take your e-ring or rings in general off when you wash your hands?

I'm so terrified the water and soap will loosen stones or something, that I always remove my e-ring off my hand...and I guess out of habit, I've been removing the band my grams gave me for my something old too.

I don't take mine off lol only because i have a perpetual fear of dropping it, and it rolling into a heater vent on the floor or landing in the drain lol

I leave it on. The only time I really take it off is when I am putting lotion on. I hate getting lotion in my ring.

No need to fear, actually soaping up the ring keeps it clean and diamond sparkly. Believe me, soap is not strong enough to effect metal and diamond.

I do take the ring off when applying lotion because it will make the diamond look dull until it is cleaned.

Before I got it insured I only took it off to do dishes or wash my hair because I was afraid of losing it. But now I take my off so much that my FH has began to hide it from. The other day I opened the freezer and it was sitting there in a shot glass : |

Normal hand washing is good for your diamond along with toothpaste. Don't laugh but after brushing my teeth I brush my ring.

I take it off sometimes because mine is little big and I'm afraid it might slip off with the slippery water/soap combo. Not as often when I wash my hands, but each time I shower I leave it in my jewelery dish in the bathroom.

At home I take it off, but in public I don't. I worry too much about setting it down and not putting it back on and leaving it there. Or that I'll drop it and it'll get lost in the drain or roll into a vent, like Alyssa J. said.

I'd worry more about losing it down the sink (or elsewhere) while it's off!

I am afraid it will fall or forgetting it on the counter. I keep it on all the time unless I am cleaning it.

@MekMek do you use your toothbrush to clean your ring??

    I leave it on.

The only time I really take it off is when I am putting lotion on (or something else that may be dirty- like potting a plant or something).

I also take mine off when I go to sleep because my fingers swell some during the night. I've heard if you've got a white gold ring, the rhodium coating wears off the more you wear it from the oils on your skin, so it's best to take it off at night.

Hmmm....I might try washing my hands without taking it off. I have the small pave diamonds on the sides of my ring and a halo around the main stone...so I'm most worried about those popping out.

Those with halos and paves...you don't have any problems at all???

The only time I take my ring off is for lotion (if I'm in a place where I know I won't forget it), dishes by hand, and kneading bread.

Well if I'm around the sink washing my hands, I would be worried to take it off and that it would fall down the drain lol. I take it off and have a designated spot when i'm cooking or showering, putting on lotion, or washing dishes.

I am so forgetful..I rarely take off my ring. I have left it lying where i took it off way too many times. One day it is not going to be there when i go back or i will forget where i left it. So nope. I try not to take it off.

I have pave stones on both my band and e-ring. I never take them off for washing my hands. I just make sure to rinse them really well. And just give them a cleaning once a week or so and they'll be just fine.
