water gel beads??

Almost Mrs. P, on April 16, 2013 at 4:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 33

Is anyone else going to use water gel beads in their centerpieces or seen them used in person? I have only seen them online and I think they are so pretty but I wasn't sure if they had the same effect in person. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am using them for our center pieces and I love them. Also using a water proof led tea light in our vases.

For larger beads you can use distilled water and if you are using a lot like me do i am taking them to the florist a week before the wedding so she can add the water and get them perfect Smiley smile

Yes, I am using them, clear ones in my vases. Just a tip that I didn't realise before, if you put actual water in the vases with the beads, they completely turn transparent and disappear. They are a cool effect though and combine them with LED submersible lights!

So if I use colored ones, with water, will it just look like colored water?

NO NO if you used colored ones it will look like colored beads they dont look like water the beads .....eat up the way in a way lol and hold it all in so that the only water in the vase or jar is in the actually bead. you buy them very very small and then hydrate them with water and they plump up by absorbing the water

I just bought some that should be delivered tomorrow. I'll let you know how they work out! I got the clear ones because I'm trying to float some things in vases

It just depends on the look you are going for. I wanted to submerge orchids in tall vases. So we are using the water beads to kind of 'hold them in place' so to speak. The beads will be invisible and all you will see in the vase is the orchids. If you want the flowers on top of the vase, then no need for more water in the vases, so clear or colored beads will be visible.

We have the clear ones that I'm using in some empty wine bottles. We are mainly using them to hold the flowers in place. I love the way they look! I'm just trying to see if I can't get some to have a beige color to them.

We had the blue ones and they are wonderful. They look really good in vases of flowers.

I used them for the centrepieces for our cocktail style engagement party. They were pretty good. We made them up about a week before hand. Don't make them up too early as they will start to disintergrate and don't make them up too late as they won't have fully expanded.

Thank you guys for the help. I really like the look of them. I think once I find a florist, which will hopefully be soon, I will see how we can work with them. I love the floating flower look and I also saw some on the internet that had floating pearls. They were so pretty but I couldn't find the pearls in all of my colors. My colors are dark red, burnt orange, and a darker yellow. I can only find the red ones. If ya'll know where I can find some in my other colors let me know please! I love them with a floating candle on top too.
