Waterfront weddings! Who's getting married on the water?

Lynnie, on June 12, 2018 at 2:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

Who is getting married on (or overlooking) the water?? 🌊

Are you just lucky enough to live somewhere naturally gorgeous? Or did you specifically pick a waterfront wedding venue?

Are you going all in on a nautical or beach theme? 🏖️

    Me! 🙋🏻
We’re getting married in Annapolis, MD. The hotel has a 2nd floor patio overlooking the water and you can see the Bay Bridge from there. Fingers crossed we don’t have to move inside for rain! We live close to Annapolis and spend the summers boating on the Bay, so somewhere on the Bay was a must!

I specifically wanted a beach ceremony and then an outdoor reception. Luckily the weather was awesome and we got to have both!

BAM cause I'm vain Smiley winking

We are! It's a lake. Our ceremony is on the deck and reception will be inside the facility, but we will still have tables set up on the deck for people who want to go outside too.

No but we had a photo op by a Japanese Garden at the Arboretum where we got married and all could think was "please don't fall in, please don't fall in....."

I do love waterfront ceremonies, though!

We originally wanted to get married on the beach, but are "settling" for getting married near a river. Being near the water was really important to us, and we modified our plans for the convenience of our guests, most notably my elderly aunt who is very important to me and would have had trouble walking on the sand. We're both very happy with our venue choice, and are looking forward to the river being the backdrop to our ceremony. The outside patio will be open throughout the cocktail hour and reception too, which are both inside.

I also made sure to let the photographer know that we'll want some shots taken near the river too.

Oh that's cool! You get the best of both worlds Smiley shame , accessible enough for your guests and aunt but you still get water pictures!

Does in an aquarium count as waterfront?

Getting married at a golf club in the ocean. We both wanted a summer wedding near water and that’s what we got. Fingers crossed the weather is nice because I really don’t want to get married inside.

I'm hoping to get married on the beach in the Dominican Republic. My family is originally from there, so I think a destination wedding there makes a lot of sense. If not, we'll opt for a small wedding in New York City and maybe a symbolic wedding on the beach during our honey moon.

Hoping for a nice, not too humid/hot, day on the beach before sunset for our August wedding. Still undecided on how to wear my hair (up or down) but it really depends on the humidity and how windy it'll be. I'm just really looking forward to the pictures with the beach in the background, or even some of us in the water!

Getting married at Sandals Regency La Toc in beautiful St Lucia! We chose this island and specifically resort as we’ve been there once previously and fell in love with the people and the island. We’re having a small wedding of 50 people maximum and will have them accompany us in St Lucia, Only 629 days to go but who’s counting 🙊

Our wedding is at an apple orchard that offers 5 or 6 options for ceremony location. We chose the one next to a pond. Both my FH and I love water (he fish and I am a fish/Pisces) so this was perfect for us Smiley heart
